Hello !

I'm trying to make a navigation bar with an alpha transparency rollover effect. However, I can't make the code work. :?

.hnav a:link {
	color: #333333;
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 10px;
	text-decoration: none;
}
.hnav a:hover {
	color: #333333;
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size: 10px;
	text-decoration: none;
	filter: Alpha(Opacity=50,);
}

Plz to help a newbie ? Thanks.

As to " I think therefore I am ", well, I do not think, therefore I cannot be held responsible because I oblivously don't exist now do I ?

filter

Hi ShethemjaJära,
Filter is an IE only property that works with, body, button, img, input, marquee, table, td, textarea, tfoot, th, tr, and absolutely positioned div and span. Note "a" is not in the list.
Also you would be better of specifying the style like a.hnav:hover{...Hope that helps.

Ahhhh. Thank you for clarifying that. Smile

Not Impossible

Try creating this:

<a href="yourlink" border=0 onMouseOver="Change Opacity">
<div style='z-index: 1 background-color: #000; width: 162px; filter: alpha(opacity=10, style=0); -moz-opacity: 10%;'>
<table>
<tbody>
<tr>
<td bgcolor="#000000" width=162 height =15>
This is faded text in a faded table in a faded div
</td>
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
</a>

This works in my IE 6.0 although I havnt tried it in any other browser.

Alpha Transparency rollover

I know this thread has been "dead" for a while, but I thought I'd post anyway that opacity works for IE 5.5 + and Mozilla, and maybe Safari.

for IE:filter: alpha(opacity=50);

for Moz:-moz-opacity: .5;

Works pretty good!

"Seriously."
