Hi:

I have the following website:

http://www.software-in-a-box.com/shop/skin_default/template.htm

and the following cascading style sheet:

http://www.software-in-a-box.com/shop/skin_default/stylesheet.css

and you can see it in action at:

http://www.software-in-a-box.com/shop/

I'm having trouble with the Category menu. It is a tag xxxCATEGORYMENUxxx on the left hand side. I've included the style sheet tags that refer to it at the bottom. The category menu should be grey writing normally and black background with white writing when you hover. In my three browsers (Safari, Explorer, and Netscape) it shows up as underlined links with either blue or red writing.

Can someone help?

Connie

/*---------- product categories --------------------------------------*/

A.prodtypemenu:link {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; background-color: #FFFFFF; }
A.prodtypemenu:visited {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
A.prodtypemenu:hover {text-decoration: none; color: White; background-color: Black; }

A.prodtypemenu1:link {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
A.prodtypemenu1:visited {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
A.prodtypemenu1:hover {text-decoration: none; color: White; background-color: Black; }

A.prodtypemenu2:link {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
A.prodtypemenu2:visited {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
A.prodtypemenu2:hover {text-decoration: none; color: White; background-color: Black; }

My links are not displaying as I've set them

Not 100% sure, but try this:

Switch the "A" and "prodtypemenuX" so it looks like:

.prodtypemenu a:link {text-deocoration: none; color: #999999; background-color: #FFFFFF; }
.prodtypemenu a:visited {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
.prodtypemenu a:hover {text-decoration: none; color: White; background-color: Black; }

.prodtypemenu1 a:link {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
.prodtypemenu1 a:visited {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
.prodtypemenu1 a:hover {text-decoration: none; color: White; background-color: Black; }

.prodtypemenu2 a:link {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
.prodtypemenu2 a:visited {text-decoration: none; color: #999999; }
.prodtypemenu2 a:hover {text-decoration: none; color: White; background-color: Black; }

That should work. Looking at your HTML code you have your table (or row/column) define a style to use, and when the page looks at your CSS (if I'm correct in these assumptions) it doesn't find the prodtypemenuX class with a link identifier which is why it displays it like it does.

I hope I helped a little bit.

Thanks for the help but it didn't work. I've found someone who uses the exact same css style sheet tags and theirs works. So it's in my template document. I was afraid of that. Here's my template document in case someone wants to take a look:
