I use Dean Edwards IE7 to iron out most problems in my web site it works great but seems to have caused one more. it only happens when using the edgedesigns.tk not the real url which is
derbyshirefireplaces.co.uk/tom/edgedesigns
this means that it must be ie7 conflicting with the way dot.tk loads my page.
The problem that it causes is that for some reason you get a horizontal scroll bar.
it also seems to make the background of the body fixed
if anyone has had this problem then please please help me out it
Strange Error With Internet Explorer When Using IE7
I woudn't worry. Most people haven't even heard of IE7 (I haven't). If they're smart they'll stop at 6 and move on to Mozzy or something else.
Strange Error With Internet Explorer When Using IE7
IE7 is a set of javascript behaviours that fix internet explorer 5 and 6's failings including :hover on anything and background attachment:fixed
it is not Internet Explorer version 7.
Just thought i had better clear that up.
Strange Error With Internet Explorer When Using IE7
I would be slightly wary in using IE7, as I'm not sure that it is completly stable. If I remember correctly it is a work in progress It's a great idea but maybe not yet out of a beta stage. I've used the csshover.htc file to good effect but the drawback being that they need javascript enabled on the client, so straight away things are to chance so to speak. What I found strange with your site was that it required an activex to run , which I always have disabled, without it the layout in IE6 was very broken even when I allowed it the layout was out of alignment.
To be honest I would have a think about whether you really need the abilitys it offers and sort out the domain it's a tad confusing the redirect in IE6 breaks; the direct link doesn't, in FF there's a frame redirect .
When you say that you have used IE7 to iron out problems This is probably not the best way of using it, the lack of png support :hover and the support for or lack thereof for selectors is something we code around I would only use IE7 to add embelishments that were of no importance if they failed to function
Sorry this doesn't actualy help with the problem but I assume that you would not be using the redirect as an ongoing situation.
Hugo.
P.S Pineapple IE7 is not browser but a method of using a MS .htc file to add support for selectors/png/:hover through the use of Jscript and the behaviour property, that were left out of IE6 (it's a bad name!)

It's still cr*p though.
Design the site for a standards-compliant browser, then hack it up to work in IE6 and 5.

Thats what i have done, my site is totally standards compliant the reason i have to use ie7 is to get around internet explorers shortcomings,
there is no problem with my site in any browser except internet explorer 6, for which i point the finger at microsoft, who frankly should know better.
I taka your point about the fonts, i had used fonts that obviously aren't present on macs or on your system, i will look into this.
