It's a pretty small amount of CSS debugging really, I just don't want to have to wait with my site down while I learn this stuff enough to troubleshoot on my own, which I will eventually. I just have too many classes and other immediate concerns to do it any time soon, so I was hoping someone here could help, as you come highly recommended. I'd even be willing to pay a little, though I live a pretty spartan life these days...

Anyway, this is basically the deal. I put together a custom CSS template for my Expression Engine powered main page and more or less did the whole thing while browsing with Firefox, assuming that IE would be able to handle anything it could. Then I read this:

I know its one of these bugs that's messing me up, but the page looks totally broken in IE. Anyone who would be willing to help me out will have to take a look at how things are in Firefox or Mozilla, because it looks perfect in those browsers.

I guess I might as well post the code so you can take a look at it, whenever you have a chance, and any suggestions that could help nuke this problem would be very much appreciated.

Here's the main template content code:

And here's the layout CSS:

Thanks in advance,

James

Please HELP! IE browser display bugs killing my site...

Hi sgaileach1,
First thing you should do is remove the comments

Quote:
<!-- ... -->
from your CSS files.
To comment in CSS use /* ... */ That may even fix your IE problems or it may cause others.
Once that is fixed let us know so we can have another look if the problem still exists.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply Tony.

I tried what you suggested, and actually removed all the comments since they were just there for testing purposes anyway. I also found some missing semicolons and generally cleaned up the code by removing or adding spaces and such where appropriate. Here's the current working version:

http://www.iparadigm.org/planetary/temp/layout.txt

Sadly it didn't do anything for the IE problem. Basically my main center block shows up more or less where it should, but the left bar is hidden behind it and the right bar is way the heck off to the right, off the screen even at 1600x1200.

I actually got rid of an invalid "float: center" tag in the "middle" div since the version of the CSS I posted above, and now the whole thing validates with no errors, so I'm guessing it must indeed need one of the "holly-hacks" the above page attempts to clarify.

As far as that goes though, I'm still praying for even a little rain...
