Any thoughts?

Plz post your browser and version if you can see anything obviously wrong (especially safari) but not if you're just picky man.
and here's my various excuses - it's wordpress, not from scratch. it's someone else's theme (http://s.themes.wordpress.net/snapshots/1377-big.jpg), obviously I'm a noob or I wouldn't be asking for opinions (actually I'm a girl so I guess that makes me a noob boob?), but if you see what it looked like before.....!!
no doubt tyssen being the curious cat he is will poke his head in and give his invaluable opinion, thanks for your help also too buddy
Just a quick poll too, how many browsers do people think should be compatible? The big four? IE, saf, op, and FF?
Well it's a wordpress theme,
Well it's a wordpress theme, but it can still be valid html and you really should fix up those html errors. A wordpress theme can be valid html and can use a strict doctype, for instance this one.
The 10pt default font size is rather too small for anyone with even slightly oldish eyes, even with the verdana font. Speaking of which, you really shouldn't use verdana on the web no matter what Microsoft says, since it misleads you as to how big it really looks if the reader doesn't happen have that font installed (like macs or linux systems for instance).
You also need a larger line height for better readability I think - at least 30 percent bigger than the default. e.g. line-height: 1.3; applied to the body element.
The graphic is nice, but rather too big and dominating, I think.
Other than that, being wordpress, unless you cut your own theme it's really not your design is it?
My thoughts... tho god knows why you'd want em :)
Any thoughts?
First, I like the look. Good job.
My other thought is that you are nutz to post to a bunch of guy geeks (myself included - and no offense anybody else) the words "give it to me" in your subject and then the word boob in your post! We get all silly. Not to mention your a girl coder. <> Please don't tell us you play video games too it'll be too shocking!

The answer to this question has 2 simple answers.
#1 and most important. It should be compatible with your clients browser. Also, you should probably ask him what his parents, possibly grandparents, brothers, sisters, friends and customers are using as well.
Which brings me to #2 it should be as compatible as possible without blowing the budget or your brains out.
Not really my style
Not really my style, neither do I like green, but that wasn't asked, right? I agree with Ed on validation. The errors are pretty easy to eliminate. I also agree on the image size. Imagine your page on an 800x600 resolution or not full screen size on a larger monitor
wanting your thoughts
fermp: I tried to do some user profiling on the cust's fans, but she wasn't having any of it...Her site stats only indicate 90% mozilla-compatible-agent which is not accurate nor helpful..what is a boobie to do?
ed: your link didn't go
ed: your link didn't go anywhere http://www.cupe410.ca/mainblog/?page_id=7, also do you know a place when I can validate html code, not a live page?
not anyone's style
you know it's not really mine either...not sure I love the green...Although you can make stats say anything, I think you should check this out http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp. My thing is, where does it end? It's like browsers...

Not sure what you mean by that? Have you been using the W3C validator? That's the only one that counts. And on the width of the layout, it is too wide, especially considering that you're not actually using about 300px of that width. Your sidebar's 530px wide but the actual contents of the sidebar are only 273px wide.
can't be perfect all the time
do you know a place when I can validate html code, not a live page?
well, what happens see is that what the html validator comes up with is stuff that I can't change in the editor. It's stuff that was already in the wordpress files.
For example, this is a doctype and it's in there
but I didn't put it there, it's somewhere in the wordpress files, who knows where.
Why is the width too wide? Is it troubling you as a perfection thing or literally you don't like the look? I know it's too wide, but because of the fact it was three column, when I decrease the size, it messes up the theme. It can't be perfect, I don't know enough to make it so nor do I have the time.

It's in header.php. Everything that appears on your page is in a theme file which you can edit.

It troubles me cos it makes no sense (other than you not knowing how to change it) - why make something that wide and then not use that space? It's like having a 5-bedroom house and leaving a couple of them empty.
ok right thanks..does it
ok right thanks..does it look better now?

Looks like my ISP is having it's troubles right now, because I can't get to any of my cupe410 pages, though a subdomain is still available. (edit:Now they seem to be back on line)
Get the html validator and the web developer extensions for firefox, they will make validating easy and are essentical. The actual W3C validator is here.
yep yep, I've done it. cheers

Doesn't look like you've changed anything. #container is still 1200px wide and #sidebar is still #530px. Make #sidebar 270px (or however wide the contents works out to be) and then make #container less than 1000px.

I was talking to ed really about the image and validation thing sorry but I did do what you said, and I'm working over here now inezbaranay.com...
