Hello, i want to have a row of images for a thumbnail gallery.

To speed up construction, updating and loading time i want to assign a background image to the image tags of the images instead of using a table and assigning a background to each cell.

I don't want to use div, spans or id's for each image either.

Is this possible?

thanks

asign background image to image tag?

why would you want to do this? if it's an image, just put the image in the HTML, not as a background. If an image is "decorative" then put it in the CSS, otherwise the image belongs in the HTML. Wink

asign background image to image tag?

Hi TimeBandit, thanks for your message, sorry if my question was too unclear.

The thumbnails will be in html as they will be continually moved arround and updated, but the background to the every thumbnail image will allways remain the same.

I hope this clarifies things.

The truth is i suspect that it really isn't possible, i just thought i'd ask the people of this planet on the off chance Smile

not sure if this helps. you can apply an image to the td with CSS.

asign background image to image tag?

Hi TimeBandit, thanks for your help, yes, i know you can use css on tables but i don't want to use tables cos then it will require inserting or deleting columns for every new thumnail section.

I suppose it's the only way, i'll get my intern on the case Wink
