Hello everyone, I will start by saying I love the site Smile

I am relatively new to web design, I work part time as a web designers apprentice and in my spare time I am trying to build up a portfolio and I am also having a little dabble into SEO...

Here is my site...

http://www.pkwebdesigns.co.uk/

I don't have any work in my portfolio right now but I have a couple of projects on the go, It's more of a test this site, I don't expect to get any work from this site, really I just want to see how well I can can do with my SERPS and eventually be able to show it (complete with portfolio work) to potential employers.

One thing I have noticed it the colours look a lot lighter on my monitor, afew monitors I have worked on make my bg look black.

Please be brutal as possible as I need to learn and the best way to do that is to make mistakes and correct them...

thanks for your time Tongue

Your contact form isn't very

Your contact form isn't very easy to read. The inputs are too close together with the labels too far away (accentuated because they're left aligned). Because of the distance of most of the labels to their associated inputs, the tooltips are also likely to not be very useful as most people won't hover over the labels to even notice them (and I wouldn't bother with them when they say pretty much exactly the same thing as the label). I think this is a better solution: http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/accessible-context-sensitive-help-with-u/

And I'd lose the link to w3tableless.com as it looks shoddy and not very credible (their website I mean).

Cheers for the link Tyssen, I will most likely change to that method....

I also have an idea for the form to make it more user friendly.

how many text increments do you gurus aim for? is 3 ok?

Sorry to double post but I have just redone the contact form and would like some opinions on it (click on a text field)...

note - I will do the same for the quote form when I have time

Well I just done the quote page as well

Do you think it matters that it needs JS enabled?

It matters a lot as it may

It matters a lot as it may pose as an accessibility problem.

Since you're using PHP anyway, why not just generate the security question using PHP instead of using JavaScript?

The security question is generated with PHP, it's only the input highlight feature that uses JS...

I just went back to it with

I just went back to it with JavaScript turned off and it seems to be working right. Smile

But wouldn't it make sense to still have the message appear somewhere when JavaScript is turned off? Say, like:

(Please type in the sum of the two numbers below...)
Security Question * 1 + 1 = _____

Just curious.
