Three words:

Really. STUPID. Idea.

Don't advertise your forums on another forum, that's just rude.

I feel I must apologise for my outburst. Apart from being completely right (thanks for the vote of confidence, hugo), I feel like I need to help you fix your site.

At the moment the homepage has numerous errors which put me off ever returning. It takes too damn long to load (both the forums and the homepage), and you make numerous grammatical errors. FFS, do you get taught nothing at school?

From re-reading the first paragraph, I assume your first language is not English. If it is, be disgusted. If not, I apologise for the harsh comments, and ope you can forgive me. This should help.

How is it going? Well here at csstalk.net we will be discussioning manily CSS but there is open discussion on other programming languages. Also we will be giving away prizes soon also!!

If you are going for the informal approach, replace 'How is it going' with 'How's it going?'. 'Well' should have a comma after it, 'discussioning' should read 'discussing', 'manily' should be 'mainly'.

You use the word 'also' twice in the next sentence, which is just wrong. And the double use of the exclamation mark? I'm not going to start.

And the most frequent error? Plurals do NOT have apostrophes. 'Contest's' is 'contests', 'month's' should be 'months', and so forth.

I'm sorry for all the negative feedback, and I hope English isn't your first language. If it is, I'm ashamed at you, because quite frankly, this is just damn lazy.

Back to the point, this is in site checks. The page takes too long to load (Mozzy FF 0.9, Win98, dialup 56k). The layout of the news is good, the text is okay for me but I fear will be too small for some.

The navigation on the left would be better placed in a navbar across the top. I like the idea of the latest posts, but it should be better on the right hand side.

Also, your markup is horribly wrong. I'm surprised to see you using the XHTML transitional doctype with a table layout.

Quote:
<a href=http://forsakenarchive.com/><img src=http://fforacle.com/images/FAbanner.jpg border=1></a>

This is hideously wrong, and WILL NOT VALIDATE. Replace with this:

Quote:
<a href="http://forsakenarchive.com/" title="Forsaken Archive"><img src="http://fforacle.com/images/FAbanner.jpg" border="1" alt="Forsaken Archive Link" width="width" height="height" /></a>

If you use the XHTML doctype you MUST end all tags. Image tags must be closed:

<img src="blah" etc>

must become

<img src="blah" etc />

Same applies to Meta tags, input tags, etc.

Please read this and learn from it, and please reply to it. It took me a long time to write it.

(And when you reply, there's a big button that says 'spellcheck' - use it or I will get mad!)

Sincerely

Paul

I was going to remove this topic as it is blatant advertising and for someone in direct opposition, but I thought it was funny that he even used the same names for most of his forums Smile

Hi TheMajestic,
Maybe you should look at doing a CSS forum in your native language.
Or even better, you could find a different topic altogether.

Please don't advertise here without first gaining approval.

Tony lets leave it up I was kind of interested to see if he had the balls to reply to Pineapples admonishments. Wouldn't it be nice if he had the maturity to post an apology but I spect that's too much to hope for Smile
