Hi- I'm hoping to get some help on a problem I've been struggling with all week (I'm sure it's an easy fix, but...).

Some of the text styles I've set up will not show the correct states (i.e. hover, visited, etc.)-- I think something else is either overriding them or something is wrong with my code (both?).

The problem is showing up in the breadcrumbs, the first content link on the top left of the page and the "print" and "send to a friend" links at the top right (the other lists of links are fine).

I'm hoping one of you gurus will take pity on me and look at a sample of my css and html and give me a few pointers as I don't have any other people at my company who know CSS...thanks a million!

Can't make the states for my links work...please help!

Not sure if you change/refer to these but :

Quote:

link {
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: .8em; /* displayed at 8px */
line-height: normal;
color: #0000CC;
text-decoration: underline;
}

won't work. If you link to it in a span you need to use . in front of it.

Hey there.

Remove this from the CSS;

.breadcrumb A:link {
	font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	color: #000099;
}

.breadcrumb A:visited {
	color: #000099;

}

.breadcrumb A:hover {
	color: #000099;

}

...and add this;

.listlink a:link,
.breadcrumb a:link{
	color: #0000CC;
}

.listlink a:visited,
breadcrumb a:visited{
	color: #663399;
}

.listlink a:hover,
.breadcrumb a:hover {
	color: #003399;
}

By grouping classes and pseudo classes, you'll guarantee that the styles are the same. Hope that helps Smile

link states not working

Madam, don't feel bad. I'm having the same problem with some of my blog sites.

I'll try the solution presented here.

Sometimes when the template text says "active" it seems to mean "visited" and vice versa, judging by what happens when I change color hexadecimal specifications.

very topsy turvy frustration!
