Anyone knows reason why style applied directly in the link tag and linked to the external style sheet wouldn't work?

style sheet rule:

.StandardLink a:link {
text-decoration: none;
color: #C40000;
}

.StandardLink a:hover {
font-weight: normal;
color: #C40000;
text-decoration: underline;
} etc.

page reference to the file:
<link href="create_index.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

in the tag itself:
<P><a href="#" class="StandardLink">::new site design::</a></P>

The page uses nested tables and the link is in the table.

Appreciate your help.

That should work fine.

Try replacing StandardLink with someting like test and see if it works.

Thanks guys, sorted now.
Moving style reference from <a> into <p> has sorted my trouble.
