In your opinion, is it still bad practice (or against accessibility rules) to open external sites and word documents in a new window?
I've been looking at Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 and can't seem to find reference to new windows??
I found a thread from this forum for last year but wondered if anything had changed...
Cheers Guys!

In the most simplistic

In the most simplistic terms, what happens when the back button doesn't work? The most effective way to be accessible is to be usable. Breaking the back button is contrary to good usability practice.

cheers,

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Word documents won't open in browser windows anyway, so that one's not really an issue.

Everybody hates

Everybody hates popups.

Even if you can justify it, don't do it.
