I have searched this forum for any posts that talk about the opacity filter and found a fare bit on the subject but haven't found the secenario I am trying to use this system in
general description: I am trying to use the:

filter: alpha(opacity=50);
-moz-opacity: 0.5;
opacity: 0.5;

system to work on a div which when the mouse rolls over the div the image dissapears and reveals another div below
The content of the div is an image which is populated and controlled by a CMS system and that image is linked to other pages via the CMS system, so all I have is an empty box with just some php code in it over the top of another div. (The idea was to have a rollover effect and for the CMS to control the image and the link)

So what I have done is created an example with two buttons next to each other and named the div id's menu-1 for the first button and menu-2 for the second button.

Then I created 2 CSS styles
#menu-1:hover { opacity:0; -moz-opacity: 0; filter: alpha(opacity=0) }
#menu-2:hover { opacity:0; -moz-opacity: 0; filter: alpha(opacity=0) }

if you need to look at my example please go to:
http://www.max-izzat.co.uk/rollovers/vis.php

you will see that the rollovers seem to work correctly in safari firefox and IE7 but doesnt in IE6
I have mucked about trying all sorts of variations with filter: alpha)opacity at the begining of the style etc but all to no effect so I am a standstill as I am not sure why this doesn't work in IE6
All I can think of is either I have missed something or I have not understood what I can use this opacicty filter with
has anybody any suggestions on what to adjust.
thank for any help in advance
max

The rollovers do work in my IE6 (Virtual PC) and IE6 (multiple IE Tredosoft). What IE6 do you use, or did you fix the issue?
