Hi

I have a prob in my dropdown menu.
My dopdown menu has got a flickering issue when i open a report(crystal report) on the next iframe or frame with the same page/frameset. What can be the reason...? is it because of any ie issue? If anybody could help me in resolving this?

Sandra I have pruned and

Sandra I have pruned and moved you post from the 'lightweight menu' thread that is a specific thread for dropdowns created via the forum tool, it is also a very long thread and your post will get lost at the end.

Here is my problem in detail

Hi,

I have a frame based design where i got to display mouse over drop down menus.I have a table based menu.I have also got an iframe within the same page where i will display all the dynamically loaded pages.So if that page is an html page or JSP page there is no flickering.But if it that is a Crystal Report then the drop down menu is showing a bad flickering .i believe its a browser problem.Please help in resolving the issue.

Thank You
Sandra Nair

Link?

. . . . do you think we'd like to see it in action?

Or at the very least, sight of your code?

Hi

Hi

Am sorry. I cant share the entire code as its highly secured. The problem i have raised seems to be a very general problem.

But absically it goes like follows

/***index.jsp****/

/***body.jsp****/

.navBar
{
position : absolute;
left : 0px;
top : 0px;
width : 1000px;
height : 500p
x;
overflow : scroll;
}

Frames Test

document.write("

.navBar
{
position : absolute;
left : 0px;
top : 0px;
width : 1000px;
height : 500px;
overflow : scroll;
}

Frames Test

document.write("<\/scr"+"ipt>");

d.write("<\/scr"+"ipt>");

Here in the body .jsp i am displaying the dropdown menu as well as the dynamically called crystal reports. It shows a bad flickering .Hope this would be helpful in getting the issue.I feel the problem is with the iframes i am using.Please suggest me in order to get out of this bad flickering

Your index.jsp page doesn't have a doctype.

Is this intentional?

Hi

Hi

No it is not intentional...Am sorry if it looked like that.
Index.jsp contains just a frameset and am in the midst of developing one portal. So the code is incomplete.It will give just an outlook. The main problem here is flickering of dropdown menu(horizontal) over the body page if it contains a crystal report or word with in that. Please help me in reolving the same. Am using an iframe in the body page of the frameset to display crystal reports.

Thank You

All pages need a doctype,

All pages need a doctype, your body.jsp page doesn't have one either.

Re:

Hello,

This problem i am facing even with html, If it is fine with HTML then i can implement the same in JSP also right? I could understand one thing with activex controls the flickering will be there. So i think i should go for an alternate design.

Have you actually tried adding a doctype?

If it doesn't have a doctype it isn't really html at all.

Hello

Hi,

Please see the attachment Reports.jpg(Actually that is a zip) from my above quote. It consists of the source that am using for the portal. To see the portal, please click on index.html.

About adding the doc type. I have included the doc type in my JSP and tested but still the problem is there .Please tell me if i have to add anything more than that.Since my html version itself is having the problem,i thought i will first fix it in HTML. Please have a look at my code so that you will have a better idea of the problem.

Thank You
