i finished this tutorial and had a problem understanding how this are position. Where in the css does it tell the menu to position itself in the correct spot? and say if i wanted to place a paragragh in the empty space to the right of the menu how do i position that?

I'm very new and learning slowing so any help asap would be appreciated...

thanks

still learning...how to position

Quote:

#container {
margin: 0px auto;

text-align: left;
width: 692px;
}

The navigation is to the left because of text-align:left;

First, I would float #left, left. This will keep your navigation to the left of other contents.

Quote:
#left{
float:left;
width: 178px;
}

Then create a new div for your right content, say #right.

Quote:
#right {
width:410px;
}

and the html

<body>
<div id="container"><h1>My Blog</h1>
<!-- Begin LEFT -->
<div id="left">
<!-- Begin navigation -->
<div id="navcontainer">
...
</div>
<!-- End navigation -->
</div>
<!-- End LEFT -->
<!-- begin right -->
<div id="right">
new paragraph here
</div>
<!-- end right -->
</div>
</body>

but if it states text-align: left, then why doesn't them menu fly all the way over to the left of the page?
