Hi all,

I've just finished a site which has gone live:

www.brianrobson.org.uk

I'd welcome any comments, especially regarding the main content area - I think it looks boring but i'm not sure how to go about improving the look.

I have my masters project due in a week so won't be doing much on it in the next ten days, but I am planning on adding a proper contacts form and a CMS back end in the future.

Regards

Simon

Way too much yellow for my

Way too much yellow for my liking and the white links are very hard to read against that colour too. It also seems a bit odd that you've added the 'Download my manifesto' link at the bottom of each page. If it's that important that it should be on every page, shouldn't it be in the main navigation?

Agreed.
My head began to throb trying to read the white on yellow... closed the page almost instantly.

Better although I still

Better although I still think the navbar colour could be darker. I also think having two navbars exactly the same at the top and bottom on such short pages is a bit redundant.

It looks good. I didn't see the original that Tyssen et al. commented on, but I don't find this version too bright.

You might want to think about marking your navigation up as a list, though. This is considered to be best practice.

Life's a journey. Enjoy the trip.

Thanks Phreestyle for the comments.

Updating the navigation to lists has been commented on before and is something I will certainly be changing once i've handed in my thesis!

Hello Simon, I also wasn't

Hello Simon,

I also wasn't able to see the original but I find the yellow still disturbing. It's like... I try to focus on the middle part, where the text is, but the background yellow gradient wants to pull my focus outward. It must be related to the background graphic that you have, but I'm not sure.

Also, have you tried putting a border around the square pictures that you have in the pages. I think something no-so-dark, well at least not entirely black, just to separate the graphics' white parts from the background of the container.

Cheers!
