All.

I have a simple example to illustrate my problem:

http://thegoosmans.com/test1.html

In IE6 if you grab the right side of the browser window and move it to the left or right, the center content will "jump" between being at the top of the window and below the height of the float left div.

I have found there are two things I can do to eliminate this problem.

1) Comment out the font-style:italic in div#Content p#MakeProblem.
or
2) Comment out height:100% in div#Content

I found this out after quite a few experiments and have no idea why it is happening.

On the original page from which this example is derived I want to use both height:100% and the italic font.

My question: Can anyone explain what is happening and what I need to do to eliminate the "jumping".

This behavior does not occur in the latest versions of Firefox, Mozilla, Opera or Netscape so be sure you try it with IE6.

Thanks in advance,

HELP! italic+height:100% give erratic results only in IE6

This...

Quote:
div#Content p#MakeProblem {
font-style:italic;
}

Should look like this ...

Quote:
div#Content p #MakeProblem {
font-style:italic;
}

You need a space afer p and before #makeproblem

HELP! italic+height:100% give erratic results only in IE6

When I add a space between the "p#Makeproblem" as you suggest, "p #Makeproblem", the css rule no longer has an effect on <p id="Makeproblem>". Notice that the italics is no longer present and I do note in the problem description that removing the italics property eliminates the problem.

I think you solution works because the rule to add the italics has been removed?

If I am missing something here please expand.

Thanks

You're right, I wasn't paying close enough attention.

I'll have to play around with it a little more.

Sorry about that.
