Multi-reply

TPH - Then we're all agreed. Pineapple yourself up dude... we all want to see it Laughing out loud

Triumph (and Jenni) - Apologies for the lack of recognition. "80's glam metal band", was one way to ensure I'll look them up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RATT
I won't repeat my mistake :blushing:

Jenni - Please please don't shoot me... but... ermmm... who is he? I want to say he looks like the guy from Angel. David Boreanz or someone like that? Or is he more famous? And are you suggesting I look a little like him, or am I just making up compliments out of nothing to feed my ego Laughing out loud . Oh, and don't listen to Smee... ENCOURAGE ME! Haha!

Smee - "Temerity = 'audacity: fearless daring'"! I can only assume you were talking about the aforementioned time I changed my logo to the IE logo before the crowd came after me with pitch forks and torches! (For those curious, http://csscreator.com/node/23160 or http://csscreator.com/node/23323). And your not sorry you bought in to this thread... you love it... admit it Wink

Wolfcry911 - Only JUST noticed what you did there, very good Laughing out loud

Chris..S - Sorry to hear you may not be joining us in this thread for much longer (having now passed 50 posts). However, rest assured that a quiet day in the office when this thread is down to its embers, another shall arise. The Phoenix thread will be equally as pointless but just as much of a laugh hopefully, so keep your eyes peeled.

Tyssen - Who is he? It's frustrating me now, I know I should recognise him, I just don't!

All - Jenni is right, I did not fully explain mine, and Smee is right also, I would love to talk about myself some more! SUCH a Leo! But I'll keep it brief. Mine is simply a picture of myself taken by my old employees at Bournemouth University to be in their prospective. For 2 years, I was half an A4 page in an undergraduate prospectus held in careers offices and 17/18 year olds bedrooms up and down the country. It is I'm afraid to say, my claim to fame (excusing that I've chatted with Johnny Ball, and had a drink with Sir Jimmy Saville. Oh, and a cheeky snog with Jo Guest if that name rings any bells for anyone). It is also the image on the front page of my website though I don't encourage people on this site to go there as its a table based, unvalidated mess and I'm working on a new site which eventually I would like to stick in 'Site Checks' on this forum when its complete!

Sorry, done now!

Wow! I know Heath Ledger, but I did NOT recognise him. Mind you, I suppose I know him from '10 things I hate about you', which must be getting quite old by now!! Thanks Hugo.

P.S. Can't help but notice an online user called '*spam*shoesun'. Expecting a load of rubbish spam threads any second now...

I did not know that HL was

I did not know that HL was either Australian or aledgedly British. That just shows you what a big fan I am of "10 things I hate about you" and the Heath-meister.

By the way - don't feel bad about not knowing who Heath Ledger is - I have no clue who David Boreanz, Johnny Ball, or Sir Jimmy Saville are (but they sound like wonderful components to a horrible 80s punk band).

Tyssen - Thanks for sharing your global knowledge of NRG DJs. I have never heard of any of those DJs (not surprising, seeing the great electronic scene these yanks have in the states), especially Yoji Biomehanika. But with such a freaking cool last name (Biomehanika... it just rolls off the tongue) I had to do some research on what this guy is all about, and wow I'm glad I did. What a handsome looking fellow:

And Burlster - You are right... I'm sorry I asked. Sick

LoL jk!!! :þ

Second one! great avatar!

you might have to do a little graphic manipulation bisampling the cubic re-somthinged while preserving an aspect ratio approximating the original while ensuring that bilinear rather than your pixels are jigged somewhere down the line, I'm doing da graphics at the moment, god how I hate graphics.

Mine is non-standard as well. But then again, I am not your standard person Smile

Over the interwebs I fit your normal mold for a computer nerd, but when people in "RL" see me, they wouldn't think i know what a computer is.

I have a pretty profound hatred for the human race. Too many idiots. I have 5/8" holes in my ear lobes, along with a dotted line running down my arm with the words "CUT HERE" tattooed above it.

I'm in no way suicidal, maybe a little "off". But my tattoo is more of a statement on how I feel about all lives in general.

I guess that answers burlster's question too about the "Die. Please?" part of my avatar. Just a subliminal hint to those who waste my oxygen.

As far as the eyes, they unfortunately are not mine but belong to a techno group called Aphex Twin - http://www.drukqs.net/

Morning

Jenni - "And Burlster - You are right... I'm sorry I asked." :ohdear: - Haha, I'll keep the ego under control for now. And it's too bad the image of 'Yoji Biomehanika' didn't have green hair or we could have killed two birds with one stone. With Green Hair he would have looked like a pineapple head!

Smee and TPH - Those images are awesome, though alas, I see you've started a thread TPH saying you can't upload a new avatar! Maybe you could upload it in chunks? ... Pineapple chunks Tongue

Deuce - Interesting! I suppose if you dislike people in general then programming is the way to go. I know this is probably a stupid question, but where is STL? Seattle or somewhere like that? I think I saw a documentry on the 'Suicide Girls' once on telly.

All - Embarrassing confession. Being in an office with people who tend to sit with there headphones in all day, I've come to refer to you all as my 'virtual work colleagues'. I get the chats most of us would have in a normal office job, with you lot instead. As JD (scrubs) would say...

"I'm so cool... in OPPOSITE world"!

COINCIDENCE

So how is this for coincidence! Everyday I log on to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page in an attempt to expand my knowledge, and then I follow any links I find interesting...

Todays 'Featured Picture' is of 'Mont Saint-Michel' and I went there at some point in my childhood so I thought I'd go read the history of it. Discovering there was a connection to 'St Michael's Mount' in Cornwall (something I REALLY should have figured out previously, having been to both), I went on to that article afterwards...

So where's the coincidence? End of that article, I see this...

Quote:
In popular culture
"Mt Saint Michel + Saint Michaels Mount" is the title of an experimental electronic track by musician Aphex Twin, who grew up in Cornwall.

It's so funny so many people are writing in these forums all experiencing various extremes of weather. Time for one of those moments where one can appreciate both the size and complexity of planet Earth and the internets amazing ability to connect everyone together!

Speaking of rain, we had an amazing lightening storm last night.
No thunder, it got a little wet, but watching the electricity dance through the sky was spectacular. The wind was tremendous. Actually blew so hard it ripped some siding off the house which i have to go home and fix this evening, but it was an amazing show nonetheless.

Cater-pillock

Sorry, just noticed a couple of new people throwing comments in the Introduction thread, so thought I'd also resurrect this puppy.

And I wanted to share this too. My current avatar is the most amazing caterpillar I've ever seen. Saw it today at lunch.

It was like a fire coloured long-haired pipe cleaner, with a strip of nothing down the middle (like the caterpillar had a body-long inverted mohican), and then a white spot on black pattern down it's middle stripe.

Where's mihirc with his butterfly photograph collection? Wonder if he could identify it for me...

Anyway, I've called him Flammie.

An Urban Moth

How can you tell it is a moth caterpillar? What are the differences? He was so colourful, I just assumed he would be a butterfly, I don't know much about them you see Smile

I will never find him again, so perhaps I'll just think twice before putting mothballs in my wardrobe next time incase I get ol' Flammie!

hi,

most of the month catterpillars are very very hairy, and are very colorful. whereas butterfly catterpillars prefer to be more camoflaging and hence avoid all the bright colors.

i will fwd you to some shots later...

And have you named it bcz of the color, or are you a big fan of Flamini???

Awesome. I like the Star. I know this is going to sound horrificly ignorant, but what's the link to Texas again?

Mihirc
, I called him Flammie because he looks like a strip of flames, say in a central boiling system for example. But also, there was a dragon called 'Flammie' in my favorite computer game of the past called 'Secret of Mana'. But thanks for the information, that's really interesting Smile
