Alright, here's the issue.

I've got a Windows XP laptop from my new job and I was looking at some web pages with it and it simply looks horrible. I remember reading that font anti-aliasing or smoothing or whatever it's called was an option but it is not on by default. Am I mad or did I really read that? If I'm mad, just ignore me. If I'm correct, where's the option? Tongue

The fonts are all jagged and ugly. Sad

Ah ha!

OK, I found it. In case anyone else is wondering what I'm talking about:

Start -> Control Panels -> Display -> Appearance tab -> Effects... -> Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts -> ClearType

Whew. My eyes are now happier.

Why is it I can never find something until I post about it? Then .01 seconds after I post, there it is, right in front of my face.

Desktop rightclick select

Desktop rightclick select 'Appearance' > 'Effects' Smile

Personally I find it horrible it just blurs the font edges and thickens them while lowering the saturation , much rather have a slight case of the jaggies.

AFAIK it's only really

AFAIK it's only really beneficial for TFT screens.

However I've just switched it on here (19" tft) and it does look rather horrible. Everything looks so blurry.
