Can these forums have the system of marking the open & closed discussions..
Can the topic starter can declare that his issue is solved & then that Topic is open for comments & discussions with some different marking.. I mean I am not able to explain how it should work..but certainly will come up with some good wordings.. can any one understand how I want to start this...& add some comments to this..
thanks
suraj..
I've always wondered
I've always wondered something similar; if Tony could implement a drupal module (if one exists) that editing a post brings up a "Mark as solved?" checkbox;
this would automatically amend [Solved] to the title. You could then search by solved or unsolved problems.
We could also have an option to "close comments" - so no replies could be added (stopping bumping) and just the existing comments would be kept for posterity.
TPH 'Comments' is not a
TPH 'Comments' is not a function control you can provide in general, it's a Moderators function. That level of control of a thread must rest with admins/moderators
yes you got the thing
Yes you got the thing right
This way the trouble shooters who are looking for solving the issues can find the things easily & some unnoticed issue will not remain pending & the topic starter will not have to wait so long as the new & hot topics keeps on coming..some one can put attension to unnoticed issues..
please start working on this..
thanks

Er it's not necessarily as simple as a request to "please start working on this"
The forum code is customized and maintained by one person the forum owner Tony, and he generally has a lot on his plate just keeping the forum running day to day and while working full time, there will also likely be a fair to do list of little jobs and mods that are queuing up waiting to be actioned that will take precedence.
It's also been like this for
It's also been like this for quite some time now and most of the regulars are happy with the way things are. I also can't think of any other forums where topics get marked as solved on a regular basis, so I reckon you're lucky that the mods here go out of their way to mark even some as solved.
The only problem with us
The only problem with us closing the comments of a solved topic - even though it prevents anybody resurrecting ancient threads - is if the OP comes back with another question, or realises it's not quite solved, they'd have to start a new topic.
Yes but no one is suggesting
Yes but no one is suggesting closing comments , this is a function performed by admins and moderators and only in specific circumstances, this is discussing something that is neither an issue or that requires attention, there are certain issues somewhat related but they are best discussed in the other place
one more thing
Hi All,
I am again confused as to where is this discussion is heading to though I have one more issue..the thing is I keep on getting many mails from CSS Creator of being the topic updated & I know I have subscribed to that...I have no issues with this..but is there be a account setting facility where there is a Display as same like "Who's New", "Who's Online" which shows "My Subscribed Topics" & the updated Topic shows a Green Mark on them & instead of sending mails to the subscribers...I feel this is a very good option you can provide it to users..
thanks
suraj..
It's there
sorry...
its there...
