Hello,

First time posting!

I am doing a church website and my friend and I can not seem to figure out this issue we ran into using IE. The layout works perfectly fine in mac; Firefox and Safari and in PC; Firefox and Opera. But in IE it is mess up. I have the picture with description of the issue we are having.

Here is the page url http://new.stdemiana.org the css is on that page. Yes i know that is not good coding but we are only doing one page then we are going to organize it before we go big on it.

Also, here is the snap shot I took using IE on pc http://new.stdemiana.org/ie_issue.jpg

Your html has invalid code

Your html has invalid code and since there are no standards for invalid code you have no baisi to object to how any browser might render it. Fix up those html errors - they are of the type that can cause browsers to choke and you need to learn how to validly nest lists and such.

The only legal first level child of a UP or OL is the LI element. So if you nest in another OL or UL you have to put it inside an LI.

Embedded CSS is not a problem, though eventually you should put it in a separate file, it's inline styles like

that is objectionable and bad practice.

Get that code valid and come back if the problems persist. Read the forum sticky messages if you need to know how to validate html.

DanA, Thank you so much.

DanA,

Thank you so much. The method that you told me worked perfect for IE now my main concern is the second column on the right, the text like i mentioned in the picture is not lined right like the other browser is! Anything for that?

Thanks once again,

Well at least now you have a basis for complaining about the layout browsers are giving you. And we have some real code to look through and know that any CSS rules are applied to valid code and should work in the normal way.

So whether or not the problem has gone away you've taken a big step toward making it solvable.

Actually validating your html often makes the page look worse. But at least with valid code you know the truth and have a proper basis for a solution. Without it you don't.
