Hi everyone,

I wonder if you could check over this site for me - it's ready to go, but since I work on a mac I am unable to check on a PC. Looks fine on my Safari and Firefox, but I'm not so sure about whether it's going to work as smoothly on IE6 and IE7. I'd be most grateful if you could check it out in various browsers on a PC.

Safari-tidy is reporting no errors and no warnings, and I've run it through the validator, but all it seemed to pick up were comment tags.

Many thanks!

Two immediate

Two immediate suggestions:

1) Move the CSS into an external file Wink

2)

Site Equipment
The following is an overview of some of the equipment we use at Listers Geotechnical Consultants.

Window Sampling / Dynamic Probing
Dynamic Probing Rig

The Window Sampling / Dynamic Probing rig is usually carried in a 'Box Van' type vehicle. It has removable 'panniers' either side for equipment transport. It should be noted that this machine requires a reasonably large turning circle.

Cable Percussion / Shell and Auger Rig

Cable / Percussion Rig with VanThe Cable Percussion / Shell and Auger Rig folds flat in transit, making a trailer approximately 9m long.

The rig is towed by a "Land Rover" type vehicle.

It should also be noted that once working the towing vehicle needs to stay close to the rig because it carries all the tools that are required on the rig.

needs work, let's get some semantic elements in there eh?

Great looking site though Laughing out loud

Thanks for your comments

Thanks for your comments Pinapplehead!

I will try that with the css file - recently had a problem on another site though, where the layout was breaking up on a PC because the CSS file was actually too small to render. The only fix seemed to be embedding it. This site may have a larger amount of CSS so it might be ok. I'll give it a go.

What do you mean by semantic elements (sorry if I sound thick, I haven't been designing in CSS for very long!!)?

Finally, can you see any problems on a PC? My client has just reported that on IE7 the whole site is appearing left aligned, but that it's centered (which it's meant to be) in Firefox. Sad He also said that on the homepage, the bottom image has "jumped" out of the div. I have attached two screenshots that he sent me.

Many thanks,

For example this: <div

For example this:

I've never even heard of a "dd" tag! I guess experience CSS coders can spot much easier ways of doing things, whereas I can spend hours trying to figure something out and end up doing it in a way which probably isn't 100% correct. I think I need to get the books out!

Is anyone able to see the problem with IE or is it ok? Those screenshots definitely don't look like they're supposed to! Maybe it's the comment tags interfering?

I see - any ideas what might be causing it to pop out like that? It's been done in the same way as all the other pages with picture boxes. Did you notice if it happened on the other pages, such as the laboratory services or site work?

    Thanks,
