Right, I've just finished layout out a site which you can see at this page right here. Everything is going well for the screen style (browser checks pending Laughing out loud ), but the print style is weird.

If you try a print preview, in IE everything looks good, but in mozilla/firefox, any inline element (bold tags, links etc etc etc) you get crazy whitespace issues.

I've been trying to fix it by throwing every style I can think of at the links:

#content a{
	color:#666;
	margin:0px;
	padding:0px;
	text-indent:0px;
	white-space:normal;
}

I had a similar problem with my other site. Now ALA do not have the problem. I can't see anything in their code to suggest why, and they do not even mention it in their tutorial on the subject. Does anyone know what is going on :?

Mozilla print bug? Am I doing something wrong?

Bumpetty bump.

to be honest I don't realy care about this, the printable version is not a major issue, but I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced any of the same kind of effects. It's just a curiousity.

Anyone seen this behaviour with printable styles before?

I may be stating the obivious but have you not tried closing down the white space around the tags in the html?

Thanks hugo, but there is no whitespace. I'm talking about sections of bold text and links in the copy, for example:

Nulla sagittis convallis justo. <b>Vivamus ante</b>. Vestibulum

In fact, now I look again, it seems to be adding tabs to the text. I say that because the length of the gaps seems to change from tag to tag. The tabs are being put in like:

Nulla sagittis convallis justo. [tab]<b>Vivamus ante[tab]</b>. Vestibulum

One before the inline tag, and one before it closes. There is no additional whitespace in the code. It's really weird :?

I suppose I meant the physical gaps sorrounding the tags in the html
but I didn't think it would help, interestingly if you open the css editor side bar in FF ( which knocks out some of the styles such as images, still don't understand why?) and then run print preview you get a reduced scale version in times I think, that doesn't demonstrate the problem. Again probably stating the obvious but at a glance one would assume it's a problem with the justified text style not running through to the print sheet. Why do I get an error 404 on the print style sheet ?
Just a few more ramblings of a confused mind I'm sure you've covered all of the obvious solutions ; thought it can't hurt to suggest things that may lead to other avenues of thought!
