So lets say I want to make all IMGs in the Body hidden.

I would add the Style of:

Body img {visibility:hidden;}

But what if I wanted to target all images from a specific source?

Body img src="insertaddress.jpg" {visibility:hidden;} ?

What if I wanted to target all A hrefs with a specific destination?

I know I am going at this bass ackwards, but I am trying to clean up part of my page that has no css ids or classes, that's kind of screwing with my design.

Let's see how powerful CSS is. Does anyone think what I am trying to do is possible?

Isn't that what using a

Isn't that what using a class in css is for?

This is my big chance . . . yep, I blew it . . .

Yes you can do it using

Yes you can do it using 'attribute' selectors, I'll leave it you to find out how and then why in fact you can't.

This is a rather odd request and sadly refering to your 'design' when you appear not to have the control over both html and css fully that is required for effective 'design' is hopless, you are not being allowed to work properly are you/ is this that odd hosting service iirc?

Before you make your first post it is vital that you READ THE POSTING GUIDELINES!

Why I can't

All right you caught me.

They intentionally leave a logo IMG without any CSS class tag or in any id, so that it can't be modified. Unfortunately it is getting in the way of my page layout in FF browsers.

I have to use the Important tag because they embed some inline css to ensure its visibility.

I have tried setting all IMGs in the Body to hidden !important, then changing all those in the #pagewrapper to visible !important; but the CSS doesn't like two !important tags.

I have to specifically target that one IMG, and I don't think it is possible.

Useful application of this strange request can also be useful for Facebook and Myspace designs. Wink

I already pay through the nose

I pay quite a bit for hosting.

SilverRoseBeads.com

Problem is in upper left corner on FF.

I wouldn't mind if the logo was actually visible.

The problem lies in how I have the pagewrapper in the CSS, because of the stupid comment tag before the Doctype, which they claim is how their server side asp script processes the html and can't be removed, because they are morons.

I can only alter the CSS, but it isn't wrapped in any div id and has some imbedded inline css to render it visible.

I just want to move it or lose it.

you pay for hosting and they

you pay for hosting and they still put ads on your site?

Change hosts, there are plenty out there that won't screw with your code and wont put ads on your site.
After you change hosts, i would email the admin and let them know who you changed to and why.
maybe they'll get the hint.

You can easily do it, as

You can easily do it, as Hugo stated a while ago, using attribute selectors.

This:

img[src="insertaddress.jpg"] {display: none;}

So now it's up to you to discover why you can't use it.

Thanks Hugo

Hmm,

worked fine for me.

Of course I had to add the visibility: hidden !important;

to overwrite the other visibility property.

I'll let them have their logo back if they fix the profile to put it someplace less interfering. Wink

Time to move off Marketsucks

(off topic)

Dang, I am looking into alternative hosting, and leasing dedicated servers are a whole lot more expensive then they used to be.

My trouble was only in Netscape and FF

thepineapplehead wrote:

I kind of had already solved the problem in IE, because IE centers the logo behind my pagewrapper id.

Are you saying though, that IE doesn't interpet the CSS selector extension for targeting specific src?

Personal experiments show this to be true.
