[qoute]

.rollover {
background-image: url(http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e85/name_101/IHWV1_01.gif);
display: block;
width: 500;
height: 124;

change "id" to "class" ...you can't use 'id' with myspace, as far as I know, '.' are for class '#' are for id's

dont you dare say i did not google something!
the main reason i found this website was because i have been googleing!
and then i searched the forums and nothing relvent poped up, so i asked the question.
Is that suddenly an offence? to ask a question in the forum.. might i add this is a "help" forum...

sorry all mods...
but that was uncalled for.

Have you tried wolfcry's

Have you tried wolfcry's suggestion?

Can you post a link to your myspace profile so we can have a look at the HTML you're using?

/e

let's keep this on topic now, any more OT nonsense will be deleted on sight Wink

Start with Removing the

Start with Removing the comments codes, ie the Myspace won't let you use them.

Quote:

yeah, but Myspace doesn't allow the users to use "id", i've tried...

To remove the text add text-indent: -9999px; to your .rollover and .rollover:hover , other then that I dunno what the problem could be...

post your myspace link as mentioned above..

Or you could try making one big picture file of the 2 pictures your using. so Instead of having 2 different pictures you have 1.

then use something like this

a.rollover {
background: transparent url( pic.jpg ) no-repeat 0 0;
display: block;
width: 500;
height: 124;
}

a.rollover:hover {
background: transparent url( pic.jpg ) no-repeat 0 -124px;
display: block;
width: 500;
height: 124;
}

some thing here

where the 0 0; represent the position of the image [Correct me if im wrong]. the first one is horizontal and the 2nd on vertical. It's what I used on mine... and the -124 is the go down the entire 'normal' image to the rollover one'. I just realized one is a animation...Well, I'm not sure if it'll work, by you could try it out though..Anybody else see something wrong with what I suggested?just wondering..

Are you positive that

Are you positive that myspace won't let you use IDs? I find that very hard to believe. I know they strip out scripting tags, but why IDs?

It's not necessarily don't

It's not necessarily don't let you use them, you can put them and everything in your code
It's just the #
that cannot be used,or I can't seem to use it, even when I put the color for links or backgrounds and stuff where I use for example
border: 1px solid #ccc;
it converts it to

border: 1px solid &#035.;ccc

it puts the HTML code #, instead of the symbol #
and since you need the # sign for IDs, I don't see how it can be used

yes i have tried wolfcry's suggestion. i was so happy it works... but only half worked as i said. in a earlier post.

and sorry about OT.

now to link the myspace page that it will be used on is difficult. because this is ment to be a "advertising banner" to go on many differnt peoples profile. to help promote the band. the idea is that they post it in there "about me" and when otrhers are roaming around the myspace network they will see tha banner and hopefully like the band and then tell there friends. its just like free advertising.
well thats the idea

eZe616 wrote:

to tell the truth i had no idea about that.

no with the animations on the second picture. would it start the animation when the mouse hovers. im trying to get a smooth anim. i see your idea. and since you brought it up. i may as well try it.
thanks,

Can't cause you can't use the symbol # at all

I tried what you suggested it just gave me this back

&&#035.;035

The user isn't allowed to use the # symbol at all...
It's what I get from that...

PS:
The . is in there cause otherwise CSS forum will put the actuall symbol, and I don't want that..

how about that?

ehm...
I guess you tried to do a light version of this?

http://www.myspace.com/assistivelistening

try the link below

http://www.dynamicdrive.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-7900.html

I had to try for days. I don't know why myspace doesn't take the other 50,000 CSS and HTML codes. At least not too many people can enjoy having a rollover on their page. hahahahaha

Anyways if anybody has an idea how to stop the marquee of the flys on hover please tell me.
I wanted the blood stain to stay on one spot on hover. Unfortunately I don't know too much about html. I guess that page is my limit. (for myspace)

thanks a lot

Ok I took the bloodspot out.

Ok I took the bloodspot out. The second image (rollover) is just a white space, so it looks as if you actually catch the fly. But I'm still looking forward on your ideas how to stop a marquee on hover. THX
