Just downloaded and installed this after checking Slashdot and seeing the notice. Seems to be working OK so far. (This is what is going to be Firefox 3 eventually).

Don't you mean Medal of Honor? Wink

yes, I meant Battlefield 2142 Smile
I'm not a huge gamer, in fact BF2142 is the only one I own at the moment. I did rather enjoy Halo, but that was a few years ago and I had to sell it to become more productive lol.

I recently downloaded the

I recently downloaded the 536mb 1.41 patch for BF2 (why there wasn't a 1.4>1.41 incremental is beyond me) and my last three days have been spent being a commander in BF2 - I love Wake Island Wink

Not a big fan of Mech games so I didn't get BF2142, but I'm looking forward to Insurgency (a Source mod) when it comes out. ArmA also looks ace.

BTW it's Gran Paradiso Wink

I just installed the 1.2

I just installed the 1.2 patch for BF2142 and thought for a minute I missed two more patches! I haven't played any of the other BF, but got this one (free with a gift card) because of the mech Smile I had loved MechWarrior years ago! As it turns out, the mech in 2142 is only a small part of the game, so don't think it's a glorified MechWarrior - I'd bet it's more similar to BF2 than you may think (I'm guessing, having not played BF2). I don't have near the skills I had when I was younger though, hopefully I'll get good enough to at least be able to stand my ground. As it is now, I get killed faster than a jelly donut at a police convention.

BF2 is modern infantry

BF2 is modern infantry combat with planes and stuff Laughing out loud I love it to bits, being assault is great fun when you can frag people with the nade launcher or blow up passing cars Laughing out loud :D

Yeah but I thought I'd spell it correctly.

Didn't understand a word of what TPH said but 556mb download? that's just silly and a patch to boot there must have been some serious coding errors going on Smile

EA are notorious in the

EA are notorious in the gaming community for rushing out buggy-as-**** releases just to meet deadlines and grab more cash. There's been several major patches released for the game; in one case, they released a major patch without testing, only for it to be found to stop the game working entirely; they had to rush out the .1 increment on that pretty sharpish, I can tell you.

I was happy with 1.4, I'd downloaded 1.0>1.2, 1.2>1.3, then 1.3>1.4.

Then EA release a 1.41 patch, fixing ONE TINY BUG that affected SOME PEOPLE and SOME SERVERS.

Instead of releasing a tiny 2mb 1.4>1.41 incremental patch, they just released a 550mb 1.41 complete. WAY TO GO EA!

Valve own EA's face off. As well as slowly making the entire gaming world's back collection available online through Steam (legendary program) their update system is like firefox; silently in the background update the bits of your games that need to be updated. Magic.

You're right. That's a bad habit and will lead you to no end of trouble in your social life, by the way.

No I was talking about being right. Nearly an unforgivable sin, that. But as I see you're a gamer I guess you are beyond my help anyway.
