Hi, I hope I'm posting in the right area. I have a little web app that validates as xhtml strict, and the stylesheet validates, too. However, Netscape 7.1 is refusing to read my stylesheet. I've tried importing it, linking it, and including it inline. The only way I've gotten it to work is strip out the dtd and just put in <html>. What am I missing here to make 7.1 work? I've been looking all over the place, but I can't find any answers so far. Any help in reviewing this little site app would be very much appreciated. Here's the address:

Netscape 7.1 won't read my stylesheet!

A couple of things spring to mind, the very first line <? is a problem for some browsers throwing them into Quirks mode; current opinion is to exclude this line as it is not strictly needed and was it not Netscape that originally had a problem with media="screen although this was a much older version if I remember rightly but you could try changing it to media="all".

Don't know if any of those might help, may be worth trying, may have nothing to do with the problem at all. Smile

Thank you, Hugo. I tried those, but they did not work. However, here's something I've noticed and wonder if it could be mime types or whatever on the live server: On my local machine I'm running ColdFusion MX (6.1) and Netscape displays the app fine without deleting the first line or anything. However, the live server where I've got to place this app temporarily is running ColdFusion 5. I'm thinking now it could be on the server side?

Sorry those didn't help,

It's server side then, mime types springs to mind as something that has come up as a problem before and there was a post here where the problem arose due to a corupted CSS file, the transfer between a windows text app and unix ended up inserting extra formatting code at the end of a line preventing the browser parsing beyond that line in the code.

Again don't know if any of that is any help, probably not  but i'd stick with the server side as the problem.

Good luck,

Hugo.
