So I did some searching and I am sure I am searching for

A) The wrong thing

2) I'm blind

Anywho, from what I understand of faux columns is that you have to have an absolutely positioned code and that can absolutely bite me.

I need a faux column that will stretch to the bottom of the page, but will adjust to the size of my text and all that good nonsense.

Or have I completely missed the point of faux columns?

You missed the point of faux

You missed the point of faux columns, which btw don't need absolute positioning to work. What are you trying to do? Can't you just place a background image on the body and repeat it vertically?

The OP may be wanting 100%

The OP may be wanting 100% height columns that fill the page even if the content doesn't but will grow past the bottom of the page if the content grows, where the columsn are visisble either by some form of border or background color or image.

Basically,

Basically,

it's been a really long time since I have built a website... i just quit a job today that had me working 6am-8pm Mon-Sat since August

So I am currently jobless which gives me time to try and rehone my "l33t css skillz".

Anyway, attached is the photoshop of the site i designed and am trying to build.

I have the header done, and the left menu coded for the flyout stuff.
I am trying to get the menu to extend down 100%.

Now I am also stuck on trying to get the navigation bar under the header to sit in between the menu and right side of the page.
I am playing with floats, so hopefully i will get it straightened out.

We will stick with the first problem then. To get the left column to extend 100% no matter what I should be using faux columns?

EDIT: I guess it might help to note that I am using http://www.csscreator.com/menu/multimenu.php for my menus

As it stands, you don't need

As it stands, you don't need a background faux image to do that. I am really tired right now, but trawl back through my posts of the last few weeks and you will likely find a design that does what you want.

I don't see what topic you

I don't see what topic you might be talking about but I got the background to work... sorta.

If you make the text too big it breaks out of the menu......

ohh well, i want to move on and get the rest of the layout setup.
Then I will go back and get the nit-picky stuff fixed up.

thnx!
