In IE 6 - if you go here:

http://www.62sports.com/index2.php

you will see menu's to the left and right. You will also see the background (IN IE6) of one menu item drop into the background of the next menu item.

I cannot figure out how to fix the problem. If you view it in IE 7 it looks fine.

Now - there is the same problem with the lower portion of the left menu - but I figure if I can fix the fix - I can fix the left later.

The html for the right menu is here:

And the style that is associated with it is here:

#buttonRIGHT { margin:0; padding:0; width:183px; }

#buttonRIGHT a{
display: block;
background-image:url(../../../images/menuRightBg.gif);
background-repeat:repeat-x;
background-position:top;
font-size:.95em;
font-weight:bold;
padding: 8px 5px 8px 0.5em;
color: #fff;
text-decoration: none;
border-bottom:1px solid #fff;
}

#buttonRIGHT a:hover {
background-image:url(../../../images/menuRightBgON.gif);
background-repeat:repeat-x;
background-position:top-left;
text-decoration: underline;
}

I don't think it's an IE bug - I think I probably am just missing something. But can't find it. Of all the clean-up I have - this is the only thing I can't figure out.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks! tg

How about you getting your

How about you getting your xhtml valid first, seeing as how valid xhtml is both a prerequisite for any browser to render your page correctly, and also as how we ask for it in so many words up front?

Okay:I cleaned up what

Okay:

I cleaned up what errors I could. Unfortuantely - most are required code to get the various pieces to talk to one another.

So the bottom line is that it is not going to validate. Which I apologize for. But having said that - The style issue is not related to any of the validation errors.

So I'm at a point where I could really use the help - in spite of the fact that the page does not validate. Verbally crucify me if you have too, but I need to figure this out regardless of your position. If you want to scold someone - scold f'ing microsoft for putting out garbage browsers.

This does not point to lack of effort in trying to find the answer. If you look at my past posts - I can and do solve what I can on my own. If you don't want to help, please just ignore this post, yourself, and let someone else try who's interested.

Thanks
