I'm trying to get this http://www.alistapart.com/articles/alternate pulled css/java code to work for switching out my css themes but I have not been successful.

Following the instructions I download the javascript file and called it from my header tag (just below my css files)

I have two css files I'm working with default and blue. So I have those called from the header too:

Then I have my links in the code called as:

default
blue

Am I missing something because the theme switcher isn't working? Does anyone have any feedback or a suggestion on a better technique?

Thanks!

It may not be java but it

It may not be java but it's using javascript. Anyway, I currently don't have a server for these files so there is no link to show:-(

However, I'm absolutely positive all the files in the right location.

Thanks anyway...

Have a look at this, (code on second page): http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/javascript/2001/04/27/essential_js.html

I actually have the same problem so if I can't sort it out i'll make a topic for a bit of help, or i'll keep an eye on this one.

OK, try giving the default style sheet a title as stated in the A List Apart article. I shouldn't have to mention this but a rel="stylesheet" without a title is persistent (always on). You can only switch it off if you make it preferred by giving it a title. I didn't notice it before in your code, I guess I assumed you read the article.

Well I was helping smk2007.

Well I was helping smk2007. I posted a link to my site (which contained a working example of the CSS Theme Swicther).

Maybe you think it was spam but I hate spam, spam is one of the reasons I closed my forum.

EDIT: I think I will post the link again because I think it will help if he/she views the source: http://pc-uk.110mb.com/css_test.php (ignore the flash stylesheet).

I think the original poster was already helped by changing the persistent style sheet to preferred. Of course we'll never know if they don't come back after being helped. Why are you so defensive? I don't see how posting a link to a working version would help anyway as there is a working version on a list apart in the original article.
