Hi:

I hope someone here can pass along some help. I have a vertical suckerfish dropdown menu on my site. When I view my site on IE6 there is no problem with the way the menu functions. In IE7 when you hover your mouse over the menu links, they do popout, but it is very difficult to mover your cursor to the adjacent links without them disappearing. Sometimes you can click a link, but mostly, it just won't work properly.

Anyone who knows more about this area, your help would be appreciated. I do have hacks in my css and I know that IE7 does not like these. I had the hacks for IE6. Other than the trouble in IE7, the menu works in FF, Opera, Safari and Netscape. And of course IE6.

Hope someone doensn't mind taking a look. I do have an older javascript file as well.

Thank you,

I can't open those links at

I can't open those links at the moment but I'd check anything that begins with * html. Try removing the * html from the rule and see if it fixes your IE7 problem. If it does, you may need to use conditional comments instead to serve those rules to all versions of IE.

Post a link. If you can't post a link, jsFiddle it.

Menu Trouble

I removed the * html hacks, but unfortunately, that didn't seem to improve things and only made them worse. I am really lost on this and it's getting a little more complicated than I had expected. I don't know whether to start all over with another menu or try to fix the one I have.

Removed the filtered

Removed the filtered rulesets completely or just the universal selector? Tyssen meant you to try just removing the '*' to allow IE7 to see the rules as well.

Menu Trouble IE7

I have removed the '*' from the rules but that also seems to make things worse again.

Menu Trouble Solved

I have looked into the trouble I was having and added some conditional comments for ie and even improved things for FF, NS, Opera and hopefully, safari. Solved the problem without any hacks!

Thanks,
Shawn

Did you find a fix to this problem?

I am having the same issue, and wonder if you could share the details of your solution.

Thanks of course for posting the site and code, but could you just point to the changes you made that solved the problem?

Thanks!

Brad

He's targetting various

He's targetting various versions of IE with conditional comments rather than adding the rules to the main stylesheet and trying to hide them from browsers that shouldn't see them:

h1{padding-top: 13px;}
#underlinemenu,#underlinemenu ul li {height:.01%;}

body {font-size: 100%;}
li ul {right: 198px;}

body {font-size: 100%;}
li ul {right: 198px;}

li ul {right: 200px;}
