This is more of a general bulletin board question than a CSScreator Forum question...
Perhaps I've worked with too many trouble-ticket software packages that let you Open, Close, and Defer items, but wouldn't a BB benefit from some type of system that let anyone "close" a thread? I find myself wading through a lot of BB posts daily (hourly it seems) and it would be nice to know which ones are resolved and which aren't. I think that a system where anyone could "close" a thread, but (if someone disagreed or found additional information) anyone could re-open that thread would allow for a large majority of the Fluff to settle to the bottom...
Doors are open for criticism... anyone?
BB that lets you 'close' threads?
Hi KnightWolfJK,
Yes I agree it would be nice even if it would just display a different icon to say a solution was found.
It would save a lot of time.
I will add it to my very long list of things to do
BB that lets you 'close' threads?
Tony,
I wasn't even suggesting it needed to be done here, I was just interested in whether or not any BB systems support it. But Hey, if you're gonna put it on the list... thanks.

BB that lets you 'close' threads?
Just need to formalise the system used over at the phpBB forums. Each thread (in certain forums) has [x] in the title, where x gives the status. But getting everyone to start threads like that, or having us mods go through and change it would be a pain.
So something where the thread creator can change the status... it only has to be a flag, it wouldn't even have to do anything, just for show...
Doesn't sound so tricky. I'd give it a go if I had free time!
BB that lets you 'close' threads?
I was diggin' around at phpFreaks and stumbled across a large thread about the same idea, thought I'd post it here.
In the end they decided that it was a good idea but no one actually had control over the site, so it went nowhere. They were also considering pruning tens of thousands of old posts, which seems a waste- it wouldn't need to be applicable to old posts, just new ones. Frankly I'm surprised there isn't a phpBB mod that already does this. I'll dig around at phpBB.com.
