My site is 3 col fluid. In I.E. All works great. In firefox the left and right cols tops are at the bottom of the center column. I checked all DIV id's to be sure they were closed, but nothing I do helps.

If it looks "right" in IE

If it looks "right" in IE and "wrong" in Firefox, then the rule is that 99% of the time IE is lying to you and Firefox is telling the truth. This is no exception. IE is wrongly enclosing your floats, which it is not supposed to do. Firefox is, correctly, not enclosing them.

When an element is floated it is supposed to be removed from the normal flow of the document and it's enclosing element is not supposed to know about it any more. There is a very good reason for this. There is also a way to change the default behaviour.

Look for a message about "enclosing" floats on this web site, if I recall right it's in the "How To" section, or take a look here.

Center column content

Thanks Ed, that site was great. I made my 1st CSS and combined it with some CSS a friend wrote for me. both display exactly the samwe in FF and IE with one exception the middles content will shift if i correct for IE and shift the other way for FF. I am sure it is just a small script insertion. Heres the code for FF. Attached is complete file for page.

ul#gallery li {
float: left;
width:415px;
height:150px;
margin-left:-40px;
display:inline-block;
border:1px solid red;
padding:3px;
}

thanks again for the site, it was great
