Is it just me, or have the links to the next and previous threads been hidden?

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

It's not just you I've lost them as well, wouldn't sweat it Tony has a fair bit of ongoing tweaking I think, slowly pulling all the little details together.

The alternating backgrounds

The alternating backgrounds are there gentlemen - set to #FFFFFF and #F6F6F6. I can see the distinction on both the live forum and the posted screen-shot, on both my CRT and my LCD monitors. But maybe that's because I use a Mac with its superior colour balance and gamma setting. It obviously follows then, that I am a superior and discerning person for using such equipment. How clever of Tony to build the new forum with an integral superiority detector Laughing out loud

Gray scale

Thanks Roy,
It took many seconds to choose a colour that only the elite could see Smile

For those that can't see it try calibrating your monitors.
Here's a simple page with gray scale steps http://www.intersoft.it/galaxlux/GrayScale.htm

Oh the smugness. Yes

Oh the smugness.

Yes alright it's a monitor balance thang.
and I was on a secondary workstation with lowly on board graphics and cheap tft hence I couldn't pick up on that subtle a shade; despite tweaking of gamma/brightness it's no more than a vague shadow, but hey lets be elitist and discrimatory with our styling.

I can always move to my vastly superior expensive 19" tft with high end graphics card equal or vastly superior to anything the Mac has and enjoy the full richness of the forum styling, I'm not bovered!

Hang on - where does the word 'new' come from above? ...not from me!

[edit] now it's moved to this post. I guess then that if someone else had posted it, it would be new to me. It's not new to me, but at least that's probably an explanation.

Note also that editing a post does not result in a notice to that effect i.e. there is no sign that someone has altered their post.

monitor calibration utility

In case anyone cares to try and calibrate their monitor to try and see these elusive elitist shades that have been settled on this free small standalone utility helps and provides some useful tests.

Yeah? Well thanks a lot! Now I know exactly how crappy my monitors are. This on top of my 19" dying last Wednesday.

Well at least my old worn-out monitors can distinguish the shades of gray. So, there.

cheers,

gary

Laughing out loud sorry; I too spent a frustrating few hours adjusting my smart expensive 19" tft which I had thought I had calibrated quite well, seems that was not the case.

All for the sake of elitist CSS styling, pah.
