Is anyone else finding the revamped forums extremely slow, especially on posting?

Yes, I'm generally getting timed out trying to get to the main forum.

Tis slow, but that may have to do with the Server doing battle unto death with the black knight Sir Googlebot, and possibly many cycles of the processors troops being rallied to the cause of truth and justice against the dark hordes.....
Then again it may not!
Hugo.
ooh spell checks gone a lovely shade of violet.
It's too slow but it won't
It's too slow but it won't be due to modern spiders as they are programmed not to trawl through pages continously, specificly not to overload servers. They tend to index in batches of a few pages at a time.
Upping Drupal's performance
Upping Drupal's performance is one of the main attention points of the Drupal development team. This may not have anything to do with the currently observed slowdown, but there is more performance in the pipeline.

bots and crawlers
It has a lot to do with googlebot trying to index the site.
Although they limit there activity and don't try and don't everything at once when they hit they still hit hard.
At the moment the top two visitors are Googlebot and Msnbot, below that are other crawlers and bots that I haven't heard of.
The site is also trying to reindex itself so that the internal search works correctly. Only about 20% has been index so far.
Once all this indexing settles down I'm sure we can get back to a decent speed.
this is the problem i am
this is the problem i am having:
most of the time i type in www.csscreator.com it will not load
out of the times that it does load if i click on the primary "css forum" link it will connect and wait for reply and then it will just stop. to get to any of the forums i have to click on the active topic and hopefully i can see the forum index from the active topic. but most of the time, this website is unaccessable to me.
why did you wanted to upgrade from the php bulletin? if it is doing well don't break it.
why
Hi Bingars,
There are many bots trying to update their data on thousands of pages. Yesterday was by far the worst day but I tried to let it go so they could get the job finished. eventually I restarted httpd, just to give the poor old server a bit of a break. Each of the bots/crawlers/robots have to check their old links then index the new pages and as there are about 80,000 pages there is a lot of work to do.
Once all the hard or deep indexing is over things will improve significantly.
There were some problems with the old board that made it complex to keep up to date. This system allows me to keep all the content together in a manageable state. Before I had seperate hacked together pages.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
by far you do not have to
by far you do not have to apologize for anything. i owe you guys enought for the adivse and providing this place. if you want bandwidth or space online, or if you need new equipments, feel free to ask.
the problem i am having is strange. if i click on the "css froum" link from the "primary links" section or any link it will time out and stay on the initial page. the only way right now for me to view any threads is by click on any of the active forum topics.
and also i tried use the code syntax and the blob of css got smashed and atthe end of every line there was a

I mentioned this in a blog entry binargs, try using html code tags instead of bbcode tags for the moment.
although it looks as though this problem has been corrected now.
BBcode code tag:
#selector { property:value; property:value; }
HTML code tag:
#selector {
property:value;
property:value;
}
Hugo.
speed
Looks like the site speed is back to normal, at least for the moment.
Don't tempt fate!
