. . if that made any sense.

We;ve had a lot of people recently I've noticed who are asking a lot of the same/similar queries. Now, obviously the search button is broken, or people would be using it (Tongue) and I was thinking we could maybe create a faq section with a list of links to techniques.

Example:

Three Column Layouts
Form Styling
Fixed Footers

and some FAQs like:

"Why don't my hovers work in IE"
"Why aren't my background colors showing in FF" (float clearing)
"What is a web dev toolbar"
"Why doesn't my hover work in IE"
"How can I color the scrollbars"
"Why doesn't my hover work in IE" Laughing out loud

and so on.

I'll be compiling some links later tonight (after dinner Tongue ) but if any of you have a list of your links, or saved in your bookmarks folder, any chance you could post them up so I can put all contributions in one main topic?

Why not just rename 'How to' to 'How to and FAQ' as that is what the section was created for!

I'm for having FAQ renamed to OFAQ(often frequently asked questions) pronounced OHFARQ Smile

FAQ/Topic Links

I'd say compile a list of the most frequently used IE hacks and do a short explanation of each one or a link to a site that explains it in more detail. Because, I know I for one never use IE hacks unless they are given to me. For some reason I just never think of looking into that side of things :-/

Also, a FAQ for why hovers never work in IE would be sweet to have Laughing out loud

a FAQ on why so many words on the internew are interchangable with no change in definition (ex: the/teh, internet/interweb, and p*rn/pr*n) but i think that might be possibly shying away from the whole CSS thing Smile

Hmm - maybe a FAQ on how to get my Half Life models to change the way they look. Also, do you know where I could get some sweet hacks? I need new skins for my guns and some new maps - any clue where I could get these?

Another idea - should put a code at the bottom of the "OHFARQ" and tell people if it is their first time posting they have to put the code in their title so that way we know they read the "OHFARQ".

The End.

In case you want to reply to these poor misguided fools:

Hacks are bad, get the best from myg0t.com (seriously, I know these things Laughing out loud )

Maps get from fpsbanana.com, a great archive. Just DON'T READ THE COMMENTS OR FORUMS the place is riddled with freaking idiots.

Skins you shoudl get from cdg.net/forums, all the best skinners/modellers/compilers hang out there (Twinke, Millenia, Lordnoob to name a few)

But I was thinking abotu the renaming thing. If you have each FAQ as a separate topic, that creates a lot of tiny topics which will soon fill up the subforum and require navigating through pages. I think a better idea is to leave the existing faqs/howtos in there, but create a sticky at the top entitled "FAQs/How To Guides", which will contain a massive lost of all the faqs and howtos in one topic, so you just have to scroll down.

If you lot have any links, post them up with a quick description, I'll whip up a quick page and see what you think.

Maybe we should start talking up the "How to" section when answering questions. I think I'll start doing that.

I was browsing through there today and there is really some great stuff!
