I've decided that very soon i'll be starting my own freelance business. I already have 3 people ready for me to build their websites.

This was my idea for a name and logo. It's a bit simple for now but i'd like some comments or suggestions.

Thanks,

Dan

Starting my business - what do you think?

Hello, I'm sorry for being a perfectionist, but I am. I hope my comments are even a bit helpful. I may seem harsh, but I never want to be.

Is any of these your site?

I mean, when I see your logo, one of these sites that google found out would be the one I'd try to go to, to make business with you. (Maybe making the logo more url friendly could help?)

The logo is almost ok, with a very traditional swoosh. It just has nothing sticky that makes me remember your company. (A nice look with nothing new, can you find a way to spice it up?)

Also the logo may take somewhat space from a site if you want to keep it readable and the swoosh in right proportions. (Maybe making the swoosh a bit smaller and a bit to right. You might want to test the logo out on some site layout to see what I mean.)

All in all a nice design, but I'd still tweak it some.

I echo Arkkimaggi's comments 100%. Making sure your site is easily reached is a must. The last thing you want is potential clients reaching a competitor in the asumption that they've found your's.

Love the swoosh site! Being a former identity designer myself, I can always find the time to criticise the vector swooshability of a logo.

Saying that, it's nice and neat and with a little more thought, you could knock it into shape I reckon. Making it web-friendly and perhaps making your company name the actual domain cuts out a lot of problems.

The next sentence is true. The previous sentence is false. Discuss...

Starting my business - what do you think?

Well it's going to be an australian business and the domain name will be www.webflair.com.au or even .net.au. I'm not sure how i can keep my domain name simple enough to remember without losing the link with the business name.

And yeah the swoosh is kinda cheesy but hey i thought it looked cool Wink
I'm not that good at logo design unfortunately, but i was going for that simple design that can easily be a vector graphic.
What do you think of the colours?

Thanks for your input though Smile more opinions would be great Smile

Hi Fruitcake,
I quite like the design, it's clean and simple.
But the swoosh takes up a fair amount of space you could srink it a little and think about putting it on the other side of the image so it looks like it opens out to the site.
I'm not a graphic artist but I do like to keep things simple and clean.

Hope that helps

I really think you need to change the colors. i'm trying to image what your blue orange and green layout could look like... and it doesn't look good Crying

i'd also change the font. if you're doing web design, you want to show that you're creative and different. make your logo reflect that. right now you're using arial ( or something similar) which is quite possibly one of the most boring fonts ever.

good luck with your business!
