I've finally made an index page for my demo site. As time allows, interior pages will be cleaned up and added to the TOC. Suggestions and comments appreciated.

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Finally, a Guru page!

You're right, just tested it in IE and it looks awful. Kudos on the Hugo attitude - you shouldn't have to hack a page up to make it work, it just should.

Reminds me very much of Stu's site, which isn't a bad thing - his is a great resource.

On the floats demoes, I don't like the link to the image of IE. Woudl it be better as an image int he page, with maybe a border and a caption to explain it's a screenshot? I was under the impression that the boxes on the page WERE the screenshot, it was only when I could select the text I realised the screen-cap was a link - even though it's blue, it looks too much like the title of the boxes.

Nice though Laughing out loud

Would it help to move the links to below the demo? To me, of course, the links are very obviously links. I didn't want to embed the images because only Linux and Mac users need them. Everyone else can view directly in IE.

I will confess to fixing the title thingie for IE. I had to use a hr element in the html instead of leaving the presentation to the css. Oh, well. I said not to expect consistency. Smile

Nice, simple layout. I like the visited hover thing - didn't realise you could do that.
Couple of things I noticed: your heading on a couple of your demos could do with a bit more padding to the left and this:

backgrounnd-color: #fefefe;

How to get help
Post a link. If you can't post a link, jsFiddle it.

A good site, well done.

I'm with Tyssen on the header needing some padding-left. I also think the different coloured bullets for :link and :visited is neat.

The padding: I'll watch for that where a page is bordered. It does look a bunch better when not butted up against the border.

The spelling error: Where is it?!?

The bullets: Just curiosity and experimentation on my part. I wanted to 1) have a visible hover effect, and 2) add a bit of color. I like it. Too bad a certain majority browser doesn't support css2.

cheers,

gary

Good stuff Gary but you have truly brightened my day with much mirth at your spelling mistuke, almost as bad as my border:soiled !pc ~000;

Good golly your sites down again!!!

If you validate your stylesheet it may pick up your backggrund error then again a quick scan may locate it as well

Oh good grief! Let's hope this down time is short lived, and not like last August. [edit]~2330Z: It seems to be back up—for a while, at least.[/edit]

I scanned, with my Mark I mod +2.5 diopter lens aided eyeballs, to no avail. I had forgot about the bullet bg, and only checked body's bg. Sad Well, the validator picked it up, so all fixed

cheers,

gary
