Hey everyone. I'm glad that I was able to finally find such a good forum to ask for help.

So far I have this: http://www.tri-m.com/new_site/
My CSS: http://www.tri-m.com/css.css
(ignore unused css in here that is not on the page above. im trying things out on my server also at the moment)

In the space in the middle I am wanting to put something like this in:

(It would be a box in the middle)

I have searched everywhere for a 3 column css example of a static center and fluid right and left... but I haven't been able to. The only this that I have found is this: http://scwizard.awardspace.com/FluidLR.html
It works fine in firefox... but in IE it's not compatable at all.

Does anyone know how I could achieve this?? I have tried different attemps... but none of them seem to work. If you need any other information for you to help me, I would be more than glad to supply it.

Thanks so much for everyones time Laughing out loud
- Jacenta

3 column - static center - i cannot find this anywhere :S

Do those areas contain content, or are they used as gutters?

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

The static ones I want to be an lines but they aren't going to extend very far.

The fluid ones I want to place content in them.

Basically like this:

Laughing out loud Thanks

EDIT: If you know a better way about doing this that would be awsome too.

It looks more like a header and two columns to me. Smile

Header and 2 columns??
I don't think that would work very well because the two coloured lines are not suppossed to extend the full length of the columns which they would if I were to make them borders.

Do two columns. Make the image holding column fixed width[1], and give the other a left-margin ≥ the left col's width. Put a left border on that column, or a right border on the float. Pick the shorter if you can. Give both columns top padding sufficient to clear the banner.

Make the banner absolute position, and use left: to line it so the vertical border of the columns is lined up as desired. put a shortened hr at the bottom of the banner. The banner background color should be transparent, or left to the default.

cheers,

gary

I know you said dynamic, but a column holding a fixed width object like an image would break the layout if not at least a min-width, which you know who doesn't support.

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Ahhh I couldn't really understand the instructions that you gave me but it didn't make sense to me. I'm so sorry.

I ended up trying another way.... but it went horibally wrong.

I tried to do this:

Here is what it turned out to be:
http://www.tri-m.com/new_site/

Here is the css:
http://www.tri-m.com/css.css

I didn't think this would be so hard. This is upsetting/frusterating/stressing me so much.

If someone was able to help me that would be really really really really apperciated.
