Ok, I just started to do a homepage to my kennel. I will post here during my construction. I have some experience of css and xhtml, since I always aim to make pages with them and my own site won't be an exception.
Please comment anything you have in your mind and excuse my bad English. At first I'd like to hear comments about the colorscheme. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, sorry. I forgot again :roll:

Nice page. A bit too wide for my screen.
IE 7 doesn't apply
* html body { background-color: #55566a }
Use conditional comments to apply the rule to MSIE

Dewon I think this is more suited to 'Site Checks' rather than 'CSS Layouts' which is really for specific problems and answers, also site checks should primarily be for finished site reviews.
I'll move the thread over.
Hugo.

Hi Dewon,
Colour scheme might be a matter of personal opinion, but I'll offer my thoughts in hopes of being helpful.
You have lots of medium tan, and lots of medium grey, and then a tiny bit of green showing on the page... and to be honest, my eye went straight to that green. I'd say you should give the green a stronger presence. Try this as an option: very light tan background, and then a medium tan with the green for accents. That would have a lot more punch, as you need to let one colour be the dominant colour and let the other colours support it by being more neutral.
Well, that's my thoughts... good luck with your site and keep up the good work!

What do you think now? The whole page is little different now.
Sorry Hugo, I thought that when I have questions conserning this very page, I could ask all in one topic.

In IE6 there is a flash of "something" in the horizontal menu bar as the page opens - see attachment.[1]
Otherwise, it's very nice. I don't know what the colours were originally but, as of now, I like the look, feel, colours and it validates. What more could anyone ask at this early stage? I look forward to seeing this site progress - so, would you mind cracking on with it and getting some pictures of the dogs in there?
:Vested interest alert:
I ask because I have recently agreed to produce websites for several USA dog breeders (terrier breeds) and I would like to copy, harumph! get some ideas from yours - only joking. Plus I love looking at pictures of furry animals
[1] Ah, for some reason there is no attachment facility on a post, for the time being. But it seems I may still be able to attach a pic. to a PM - so I'll try that.

Thanks Lorraine. It still flashes a bit, but now its not so noticable. Also there was a non-updated code for navigation. I uploaded the final now, which looks ok in IE, but other browsers show weird box on the right side. Anyone knows how to fix that? Already tried to play with images, margins and paddings but with no success. I want the current tab to come little down.
edit: I put two pics just for you Lorraine

Hi
That nav is getting so close to perfection. Perhaps a quick trip back to Johannson's place would help.
Thanks for the pictures they are two very good looking dogs PLUS you've bred colours that fit in with the website very well

#sixth #nav #t6 a { padding-top: 10px; }
instead of:
#sixth #nav #t6 { padding-top: 5px; }
Great looking dogs. Are they akitas?

That was the padding I was playing with, but there is still that area in upper right corner as you can see. If I modify the .gif, it only works for one tab, for the others it breaks.
Tyssen you know very well, they are akitas Went to Japan for one year because of them and I'm bringing these two guys with me back to Finland after two weeks.
edit: I also seem to have some damn error with colours. I thought we dont have to care about the websafe-colours anymore?

No one knows a solution for the activetab problem?
Also what I should do with the colours?
I love it!
Looks great- and the colors I think are perfect! Be sure to post when you are finished, I look forward to seeing the whole thing.
