If you're a WordPress user and looking for an accessible theme, I just released this 3-col last night. It is highly configurable, and offers a lot of added functionality: secure contact form, stats, mods control, add-ons, alt style sheets, and decent support (the whole demo is dedicated to supporting the theme). The set-up is pretty simple, but one must read the instructions. It was a ton of work, but from an accessibility and usability stand-point, I hope I did pretty good. Tried to cover everything (except maybe Mac IE 5 still) while trying to keep a sense of design.

What do you guys think?

Very nice looking,

Somewhat self promotional though mike rather than a site check that is usually posted to this section, it's very much finished finished rather than looking for constructive criticism and advice.

You're right Hugo, and I apologize, but I am open to comments and suggestions as well. I will be managing versions of this theme so I expect improvments will be made in time.

but the content is to crowded for me, so it really hard for me to focus...

Thank you. You're right. Crowding can be a problem on three column sites especially I think. Perhaps more line height or something would help, hmm.

Signature mortgages site? Wuzzat?

Possibly breaking up the long vertical strips with blocks of slightly different background color would relieve that eye-wrenched feeling. It's easier to focus on smaller, differentiated areas.

It's not much help for those of us (moi) who need a larger text size, and always end up with two-word lines in narrow columns. I'm doing a Wordpress makeover but it's very simple, fixed-width nav column on the left and let the rest hang out.

Pretty, anyway, nicely balanced composition.

Thanks Matera.

That's a good idea about the alt blocks on the sidebar and farbar. I will have to give it some thought.

Initially think I can only get away with it on one but not both. Both might end up giving it a busy checkerboard look, even with a subtle background.

A second challenge comes into play because some the of the individual blocks can be switched on and off in the config, so what might begin and alternating block could end up as one tinted block. I could probably solve this with some more scripting but it would get involved I think. Kinda running the how-to in my head as I write this.

Howdy Mike, welcome back!

I like the color theme itself, although I feel that the links could do with a bit more contrast against the pale background.

I'm not too fond of the big "read" button on the titles; it's a nice touch but seems a bit unnecessary, as you have the smaller permanent link to the article underneath.

The right columns DO seem a bit busy, I think the "contact me" button is a bit big and out of place.

ONce you get past the "contact options" I feel there is WAY too much content in the columns; is there any way of using a dropdown, for example, on the blog pages links?

Also, the big RSS icon is a bit out of place, I was expecting it to be a link. Perhaps align each RSS link to the right, and set a smaller RSS icon as a right-aligned background image?

Hello Pineapplehead,

Thanks for the feedback. good eye on the link color. It is weak on contrast. All the colors can be set, but maybe for the next release I'll kick up the default colors a bit.

Also good idea about using collapsible menus. I might try to figure out the how-to for the next version.

Good news about the Read Icons... you can turn them off in the config (recommended if the user write long titles a lot).

That RSS icon is a background image, but I do understand why it could be confusing.

Thanks.
Mike
