Hi all,

I've just finished this site so would like to get some opinions on it.

I created it with full PHP includes and dynamic content, the css & xhtml validate with no warnings or errors.

Not too sure how cross browser it is because I was having some problems with IExplorer on PC, but I seem to have got all the layout issues. Other browsers I wouldn't know.

There isn't really any content yet and I'm not too sure there ever will be as I don't think it's gonna' be used after all my slogging. So some nice comments might make my efforts seem more worth while.

Smile

As far as my abilities go on design and coding, this site makes use of all my current coding practices and I feel it's the best design I've done to date.

Cheers

sorry to hear that it's not going to be use. I think you've done a great job here. I like the tie in with it being called Mono and using just black, white and grey.

some great aspects to it. like the way you worked in the top right stylesheet switcher navigation. looks like it should be there, not just plonked in as an afterthought.

Needs some colour *ducks and runs out of the room*

Link hover is a bit wishy washy on the reviews page, tends to disappear.

You should not be using 1.1 that is reserved strictly for mime type application/xhtml+xml your serving the pages as good old text/html, drop the dtd to 1.0.

Hugo.

Sorry, it is a well thought through design and I take back the colour quip as I realise that the input box has a nice pastel blue background Smile

However I would loose the default anchor styling blue/underline I would perhaps make it a nice subtle #949393

It's a good design, hope it's not wasted. There that was me being serious, sooo boring being serious Sad

Nice! Laughing out loud

A lot of work's gone into that - hope it gets used.

My strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it!

Thanks for the nice comments, I can conform now that it's not gonna be used. Sad

I am gonna finish it though because it could be used for another site at some point, and it's a good portfolio site showing something my other sites don't have.

I tried that colour for the links Hugo but it was a bit too light, so I just made them dark grey, and hover black.

Does anyone know of a free mailing list manager script, I've found a few but the cost is too much and the free ones I've found don't seem to privide a simple way of subscribing. I would like to just attach it to the back of what I've already made for subscribing. Single email field. Then a seperate admin section.

I could actaully post this question in off topic.

Cheers

Not sure if you've amended this since Hugo's comment, but IE doesn't understand the application/xml+xhtml mimetype, so unless you're going to use content negotiation to serve different mimetypes to IE and other browsers, you should do as Hugo suggests and drop back to 1.0 with text/html.

phplist is a free and easy to use php mailing list. This is the mailing list you are likely to get if your web host provides several installable apps for your webspace.

Personally I don't like it too much as I have had to look inside it. But it works just fine and isn't too difficult to setup and work out.

There was at least one thread not too long ago (this year?) which talked about mailing list apps - a forum search should turn it up.

Hello JS. Just saw your new work. Like the others, I'm sorry to hear that it's not going to be used-- the design works for me as well. I think there are lots of possibilities for it being in monochorome. The graphics work well for me also.

Cheers.
