Please help. I wanted to move to CSS as a better way to design websites. I redesigned my site and it looked perfect. Until I tried it on other browsers (other than MSIE 6). I have been in a tailspin ever since. I cannot have a web site that looks good in only one browser. Why does the formatting and positioning of things get all screwed up as I move across brosers? Is there a way to cement the items down so they will not shift about???? Please help.

As it stands you will only get a philosophical answer that will be of little practical use.

Whoa Tongue

DO NOT say that to the Greeks. Their whole civilisation was based on philosophy. Maybe that's why they didn't do very good web designs

Hi BenjaminAR,
The first thing I would look into is the doctype that your site is using.
If the doctype puts the page in Quirks mode there will be a big difference between how IE and Mozilla based browsers display the page.

There has been plenty of posts on doctypes and there are some good links to articles in the Useful CSS Links page.

Hope that helps
