Is it possible to change orientation for selected text?

I am automatically generating a report from a database and displaying it through a table.

The column headers are displayed through a <th>. These are the only <th> on the website so I was thinking it would be easy enough to apply a style to <th> IF I could figure out what style to apply !

The report contains dozens of columns (fields) each with a small value (3 characters, max). I do not have enough screen space (or paper space when printed) to display a good column header with a traditional orientation. However, if I could turn the <th> on its side and have the text run sideways, this would allow a larger, more descriptive title.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance.

Changing text orientation

Do you mean to rotate the text -90°?

If so, no it is not possible I'm afraid. Except with text generated with images Sad .

Changing text orientation

Try writing-mode:tb-rl;

Not sure how many browsers support this (IE does).

It's not what you do it's the way that you do it.
So do it with STYLE

Changing text orientation

I stand corrected (I thought this was only for right-left direction). I know Firefox and Safari doesn't support it though.

But if you're happy with IE, then you're okay. Smile
