Ok - so I'm a bit nervous, not done this before... (where have I heard that before?) - I've got a site for you lot to check. You're going to be gentle with me aren't you? Laughing out loud

I'm rebuilding Little Blue Plane as, although I like my current site - I've been hankering after one of those nice, fluid, whitespace type sites - not so much fussy background imagery etc.

Know issues:

I've got a version of the Lightbox script on the site (an accessible version) but I've had some reports of it not working completely correctly and I'm in two minds as to whether I'll dump it completely. You'll find it if you click on one of the three templates in the "Starter Site" section. I know that this script doesn't work in Konqueror and is a bit wonky in IE 5.2 Mac (oh well).

Other issues: I've got double underlines in IE 5.2 mac for the <abbr> and a permanent horizontal scrollbar. I'm not that bothered frankly about IE Mac.

So let me know what you think (goes off to get large drink).

My strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it!

Be nice to me!!!

I like the site. Smile

Clean, straightforward, easy to use, PDA option, "now with added stuff" graphic ... excellent!

A couple of content issues.
- the header on HireGuard's page says MRP Electronics.
- the first sentence of the FAQ Item "How much does it cost to buy a domain name" doesn't read right.

Hey HellsBells,

I have to be candid and blunt. I will try to be fair and honest with you. I'm not going to pull any punches. Doing so wouldn't be in your best interest. Okay, that said, here's what I think of your site...

It's freaking amazing. It is one of the most beautiful, well thought out sites I've seen in a while. It is truly exemplary of modern web design. I love how much attention to detail you gave it. All the under the hood stuff that only people like me tend to look at is all sparkly and chrome plated. Very Impressive!

Now you'll have to name it Big Blue Plane Wink

Nice one, Helena. Excellent makeover for the LBP - with accessibility to the fore. This is how web development should be. Credit to the industry. Proud to have you feature on my site. Oh and Mike ... couldn't agree more Laughing out loud

Be nice to me!!!

just two little things,

Why didn't you center the footer? i think it looks a bit weird
You should had some padding to the quote gif ", it s too close of the text

Be nice to me!!!

Thank you all for your help and kind comments!

m4n4o

I've added a bit more padding next to the quote marks which looks better thanks.

The footer is now centred on the page (no idea why it wasn't evenly placed before) but the list and the copyright are still left aligned. There is a reason for that - I may have something to go on the right hand side. Even if I don't do that though I still rather like the text left-aligned.

Damn you! That's just too nice. Laughing out loud

TINY thing, on your FAQ page (and maybe else where, just did not check) your bookmarks take you to the text below the heading. I would have thought it better to make it jump to have the header showing as well. Just a thought.

Laughing out loud Does it? Oops! That was the last thing I added about 10 minutes before posting it on here - obviously not paying attention!

Thanks Briski - I'll look into it.

Edit: sorted thanks. Also spotted that I'd deleted at <dd> by mistake while fiddling with the FAQs late last night - so thanks for that too!

Hey HellsBells,

Two things I'd look at: use of alt text could be trimmed a bit. Pretend like it's being read to you with your eyes closed. Little Blue Plane [logo?]. Is "logo" adding anything to it for the person who would read it? Others like that.

Also the More Details links should be done like the thumbnails, if possible, each with unique link text.

One more, if you're not going to use a list as explained in the source comment, you should separate those links.

<span style="position:abosolute;margin-top:-2000px;margin-left:-2000px;">|</span>

Now I'm gettin' picky Smile

Be nice to me!!!

Ha! You should have seen the alt text and title text before I trimmed it the first time!!

I'll have another look - I've tried to simplify it somewhat but old habits die hard!

It's up and running on my main site now (well hopefully, assuming I've not forgotten to FTP a whole load of stuff).

Thanks for the tips - I'll see what I can come up with.

Hey HellsBells, once you're done running a comb across it and brushing its teeth, I'd seriously consider submittng it to Accessites.org.

Ok - well redundant title attributes removed, custom 404 added and I think I've finished (will probably find something else 5 mins after posting this!).

I'd like to thank Lorraine who's allowed me to pester her mercilessly for the last week or so, answering my accessibility questions patiently and casting her professional eye over my site. It's very easy to get set in your way of doing things and having an outside informed opinion on these matters really helps (you know how I worry!).

Thanks

I think that's a tad harsh on yourself Jo!

As far as the markup goes - yes actually I am pretty anal too - unfortunately what I see in the code in HTML-kit isn't what's actually there apparently so I have to go into Notepad and straighten it all up! I have done that a couple of times on this site - but every time you add something new in HTML-kit - off it goes again!

I may see if one of the other editors will behave itself better in this respect. I like pretty code too!

Be nice to me!!!

Wow - the site looks amazing!

the only thing that i noitced was

http://www.littleblueplane.com/about.html

in "High Contrast" mode. only in firefox (possibly opera, didnt check) at the very bottom in "Previous Versions" section, there are screen shots. The mouseover looks really weird. In IE it just makes an underline but in Firefox it goes pretty out of whack. PM me if you dont see what I am talking about and I will get you a screen shot.
