Is there anyway to state the ASCI code or HTML name for character symbols such as & and £ within this forum?

There's been a few occasions where I've needed to state them, but the forum interprets them into their character 8-[ Tongue

ASCI characters?

Have you tried clicking on "Disable Smilies in this post"?

It is found underneath the box you type in when you reply to a post and looks like this:

Disable HTML in this post
Disable BBCode in this post
Disable Smilies in this post
Attach signature (signatures can be changed in profile)
Notify me when a reply is posted

No, it's not a smiley thing... if you try & which I've typed as

& a m p ;

... without the spaces.

I've turned HTML off (and smilies/BBCode).

Okay, that worked! :twisted:
Therefore it's in the code view:

& &

& a m p ;

Okay... I'll shut up now... obviously I should try these things out before posting :roll:

Thanks McDLT, how could I ever have doubted you!

I'll do 100 lines of HTML4 code with font tags, as punishment! :-#
