I have been interested in this FF's memory leak buzz, so I started searching. An article on yahoo's home page today about it.

Then I noticed drHdrF's nice link to the weblog http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/ben/archives/009749.html.

After that, I found this tip "but there's no reason your Firefox should take up 70,000K." Turns out, with all the extensions I'm up to about 80,000K, yet still running smoothly, no complaints really. Perhaps a good tip here about how to lower memory usage for some folks though.

I know the bus on this topic a long time ago I know, for what it is worth . . . .

Each article directs the user to the type "about:config" into FF . . . pretty shocking to see for the first time; however, fascinated . . .

This is my big chance . . . yep, I blew it . . .

FF memory leaks . . .

I think that cache was mentioned in the other post - the intended flame that fizzled. The link there indicates that studies have shown that the most common pages to be visited next are from the last 10 pages visited. So FF caches some of those to provide you with a faster browsing experience. How many it caches depends on your computers RAM. It all seemed quite sensible and probably means there really isn't any reason to change that cache setting.

I was about to say you lost me; but wow, I had no idea . . . funny how I can use a program for so long, and know nothing about it. Smile

Mine's currently using 64 megs, with 16 extensions (including Webdev and adblock), two extra themes, masses of usercontent and userchrome.css.

I have a gig of ram. I'm more than happy Laughing out loud
