This is an interesting read about the latest attempt by a big company (Dell) to intimidate a smaller company into submission of a domain name. I was just about to buy a Dell multimedia PC for my kids (who want to play PC games), but I shall now look elsewhere.

Sad isn't it, all they are doing is showing themselves up, I'd never buy a Dell machine but then again I stopped buying brand names a long time ago, and take advantage of the IBM open architecture to build far better machines that can be purchased from these companies, along with their god awful software modifications.

This thing isn't limited to websites. There have always been these problems with business names, unfortunately for Domain names there were (are) people who did buy up names on the off chance.
I recall from days of yore, when american burger chains first moved into Perth. Burger King got a jump of several years on MacDonalds, because it was prepared to start trading under another name (Hungry Jack's) rather than wait until it could get its mits on its own name in Australia. MacDonalds had to wait until old Mr MacDonald (not the farmer ) finally decided to retire and sold his burger bar in Fremantle, or at least the business name, to Ronald.
I wonder if Mr Paul Dell, should go on the offensive and counter sue for harrassment and the sleepness nights, depression, loss of quality of life, loss of income due from ineffectiveness brought on by the worry, etc, etc.

So you lived in Perth as well? That's where I first lived after arriving in Oz too.

Only in Perth (except for a brief 7 months in Canberra).

I was only in Perth for four years before moving to the South-West until going back to Perth again for Uni.
