This checks out in Mac browsers and WinIE6SP2 on VPC. Could someone give it a quick look in any of the other WinIEs?

http//www.horseink.com/bhf/tryagain.html

It does validate except for two alt tags I forgot, which I'll fix tomorrow. Too many hours' worth of screen time right now wink

It's pretty plain-vanilla, but the client wants it that way. Of course, if anyone wants to suggest tiny subtle little improvements (contrast! give me contrast or give me death!) I'd be happy to listen D

Thank you!
Wendy

Yet Another Windows Site Check?

A beautiful page; especially fitting for the subject.

Be sure to have someone with fresh eyes proofread for you. "beef and lamb is (sic) raised …"

cheers,

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

Yet Another Windows Site Check?

Hi Wendy

It looks great.

The only 2 small (and I mean small) things that might benefit from tweaking are:

1. The nav "buttons" could benefit from maybe another 5px width just so the text for the longer items fits in FF without touching the side.

2. The border on the bottom of the h3 tag is touching the image next to it - I think it would look better with a gap.

My strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it!

Your background image is too low res, there is some very noticeable banding.

Omigawd - and I pride myself on being a grammatical sticker  ...Thanks, Gary, and for your comments re: site look. I'd prefer a bit stronger, but I guess we're going for the zen side Wink

Absolutely right on both counts, and thanks for the observations. Could you let me know where the text on the buttons touches? My browsers show things sitting pretty well, but that jump across the river to Windows never gives me much confidence Wink

You mean the bg gradient, right? I'm very glad to know this - again, it looks ok here. I'll reformat. Thank you.

And thanks to Thyssen, too. I really appreciate your help, everyone Laughing out loud

Cheers,
Wendy

Yet Another Windows Site Check?

Forgot two more questions (I know, I never shut up wink )

1. Are the lighter brown/greys going pinky at all? (Any suggestions for a good light brown that doesn't go all "fleshy" on Windows moniters?)

2. Font-size...I am trying to land the big Font Fish - my personal One Way to specify font-size that works cross-browser, is adjustable according to viewer prefs, and ... looks good (well, I'll settle for "looks ok"). This one uses keywords on the body, and then percentages down the line.

I'm *not* trying to start any sort of debate, as I know this is an inflammatory subject (although this is a very copascetic group D ), but I'm just wondering if this looks good enough to pull out of the snippet box every time a new site comes around.

3. [Make that 3 more wink] ...Pop-up windows. Suggestions for something to replace "targetblank;" so as to validate in HTML4.01 Strict? Another scary subject on some lists, but I don't see any alternative when you need to show larger views of items of apparel, f'rinstance.

Thanks-
Wendy

Hi Wendy

The "Naturally Raised Livestock" is just touching the right hand edge of the "button" in FF pc at normal font sizes (see attached) although it looks fine in IE6 pc.

My strategy is so simple an idiot could have devised it!

Mr. Bells,
Just fyi, here's a shot of the way it looks on my set.
[img]http://buttons.jpg_www.horseink.com/bhf/i/buttons.jpg[img]

I've changed the padding-left as per yr suggestion, so if you have a chance, see if you think it's enough.

Mr. Pineapplehead,
I've saved the bg gradient at a higher res - look ok now?

Thx,
W.[/img]

Hello Wendy,

I just had a look-over using FF in WinXP. The page seems pretty well-composed even when I resize the text. Love the silvery-vanilla scheme.

Cheers! Laughing out loud
