Fogged Topped?

One foggy late night, on my way home from a date, I was traveling along a side road going up an incline. Just as I reached the top of the hill, the fog cleared with heavy fog on the other side. But that "wall" of clearness made it look like I was running into a solid wall of some type. I thought I was dead.
