Could you Windows folks please give this a squint and see if anything looks awry?

http//www.horseink.com/hbk/oneofakind.html

If you have time to explore, I'd welcome any disaster reports from any other part of the site, as well. (How's that for positive thinking?!)

It validates, and checks out in all my Mac browsers.

One question In Opera, the <input>s display as proprietary buttons, which is fine, except the right hand side of the "Add to Cart" is cut off...so it's "Add to Ca" Any ideas why?

Thanks very much, as always D

According to http://validator.w3.org/check, your html is not valid:

Quote:
Result: Failed validation, 236 errors

Maybe you should fix that....

Site check request to my Windows compatriots, please...

Thanks very much, Ed...I was rushing, of course, but just checking through now, I realized I had changed the doctype on some pages and not checked that all pages had been changed properly. They are all HMTL 4/Strict now, and I've run every page through HTML Tidy - and they all validate. ) (excepting one tiny thing, which I just remembered...I used a bit of js to create a spam-proof email address on the Contact page. I'll revisit this, and try to find something that /will/ validate.)

So I'm ready for Windows damage reports, but hoping for the best.

Thanks for your trouble!
Wendy

Tidy is not too great, try the validator in Ed's link, there are still 236 errors

Site check request to my Windows compatriots, please...

It validates now (am a little cross-eyed at this point, but I'm pretty sure it does...) WDG & W3C. Legacy tags from switching doctypes. I've learned something correcting all this, anyways. #-o

http//www.horseink.com/hbk/oneofakind.html [start page, where the most box trouble might be]

So - I'm stuck using a transitional doctype if I want a viewer to be able to "Continue Shopping" once they've "added to cart" and gone to PayPal, I guess.

Is there an alternative to "target" in strict? Or is this just not possible?

Again, thanks.

Site check request to my Windows compatriots, please...

<a href="some.html"
   onclick="return ! window.open(this.href);"> some place</a>

If the javascript opens a new window, true negated is returned and the link doesn't fire.

If the javascript fails to open a new window, false negated is returned and the link fires, opening the page in the existing window.

If javascript is not supported or is disabled, the link fires.

This is valid html4 and xhtml1.x strict, and exhibits graceful failover and graceful degradation.

cheers,

gary

If your web page is as clever as you can make it, it's probably too clever for you to debug or maintain.

I'll have to try it, too - thank you, Gary!

Has anybody had a peek at the page to see if I've got any IE box problems (or anything else)? [-o<

There a very minor difference in some box sizes - nothing you could notice without switching between browsers.

Your html now validates, but there is one error in your css:

Quote:
Line: 355 Context : .hatmodel h2, .hatmodel p, .hatmodel form

Invalid number : background-color none is not a color value : none

You might want to take a look at that.

Hello.

Regarding "none". "transparent", I believe, is the correct word. But you probably knew that...

I think it's a cute layout. And I don't mean anything derogratory by "cute"-- so how about: elegantly youthful.

Good work. Cheers! Laughing out loud
